Understood that you were not laughing at the oppression of short guys. Never assumed you were. Actually I assumed the opposite and that you were making the point I expanded on.

The oppression of short guys seems to me to be a misused of the term "oppression". Do short guys face some discrimination? Sure. Does society favors tall guys over short guys? Sure. But that's not oppression.

As for the "oppression" of johns... you'll excuse me if I'm not ready to cry over the plight of the "oppressed" johns. I won't deny that johns have to deal with the taboos of our puritain society, but frankly, I am much more concerned with the real oppression and exploitation of many women in this industry (for who being in the industry is often not a choice, and when it is, it's often a question of survival for many) than with the "oppression" of the johns who get caught spending his disposable income on hiring a sex worker to cater to his sexual desires.

I'm not saying that it's OK for society to favor tall guys over short ones, or for johns to be shamed for hiring sex workers. But I'm not ready to call it "oppression" either.

oppression - noun

the feeling of being heavily burdened, mentally or physically, by troubles, adverse conditions, anxiety, etc.

I believe the word is used correctly.

And I would add SP to that list.

Not all johns are hobby guys BTW

Some do it out of extreme neccessity because of physical or even mental blocks and need to answer natures' call so , in their case, yes they are oppressed in the extreme

Dan Savage is brilliant.

I totally do not buy the "women today are all bitches they reject all men" stuff. It appears to me that the vast majority of women are in relationships with someone. It must be horrible to be one of the guys that no women wants, but unfortunately, it is not a reflection on today's women, it is a reflection of the fact that you are one of the guys that no woman wants.

In high school, I was one of the guys that no woman wanted, I had zero dates until I was well past graduation. So I know how it feels. Fortunately for me, I was able to rise above my initial lack of success.
