In case anybody is interested, David Johnston will be the next Governor General. (Not as exciting as Lindsay Lohan going to jail, I know.) Only Stephen Harper has the gall to appoint an able bodied White male to that post.

It's interesting that he now appoints a constitutional expert. I wonder if Prof. Johnston had been in place a year ago if he would have allowed the second prorogation to happen? Having said that, he's from Sudbury so he has that going for him. I think, at first pass, it's a good choice.

How is he not politically correct? Last I heard the job could go to anyone the PM picked, and that's the only necessary qualification—that and Royal Assent of course. Are you suggesting he's not qualified for some reason, or that he got the job thru skullduggery?

Actually the qualifications are that he has to own land and have a $5000 net worth.

Most people with half a brain or more agree that this is a deserving choice. This is the only place I've heard negative comments but that is to be expected I guess.
