Delicate issue: Would you want to know if you had body odour?

I am using a public terminal at the university.

A rather large man has just taken the computer next to mine. His body odour is repugnant!

Of course, I will suffer silently ... and am hoping that the people walking past don't think that the odour is emanating from me!

Though there is a small part of me that thinks that as a public service I should casually mention it to him ... I mean ... isn't it less embarrasing if a stranger tells you than a friend? He never has to see me again .... sigh ... sheesh ... i would want to know!

Or perhaps I can do this indirectly if he happens to log on here right now ... terminal W23 at Robarts .... you have a body odour problem!

Sheesh. The smell is so over powering, it seems hard to believe that he does not know!

Personally, I would want to know. but there are complicating factors. For example, some ethnic people have a strong natural odour which will never go away. And different nationalities practice different methods of hygiene. What smells bad to you, well....... someone else may like it. Also, people do not always smell themselves so he may be unaware.

So, be careful. Probably not your business (move to another terminal ).

It amazes me that people have this problem; that is, odour caused by lack of good personal hygiene. It's just common sense... what's the first thing you do in the morning?? Shower, shave, brush, floss etc..

IMO, there is no excuse for being unclean.

P.S. Sheik's perfume idea sounds good!

I walked up to him and asked him to leave. He wanted to know why and i simply told him that he smelled like he shit his pants. I told him you're stinking up my establishment and other customers were complaining. He was offended but i didn't care.
Troops, sorry about that. I couldn't get to a public washroom on time. I am still mad at you tho.:(

But seriously folks. Syn, YES, do whatever it takes:

Write a little note;"Dude you stink!"
Pour your whole bottle of perfume on him;"Oops, my bad!"
Smack him upside the head;"You sir have offended me with your nasty stench. I won't be able to eat for days!!!"-Then walk away very quickly. You might have to run tho.

It's too bad SP's can't insist the client showers the way the better MP's do. This would solve part of the problem.

It's too bad some clients are lame enough not to shower in preparation for an SP visit! There are so many reasons to do this. Here are just a few:

- It's the decent thing to do when you expect someone to be getting up-close and personal.
- it will make you feel more confident and at-ease.
- it will put the SP more at ease and (probably) help your mileage.

Obviously, based on the discussions in some threads here, there are clients who don't shower.

What exactly are the reasons for not showering?

But honestly, people, I am more concerned about bad breath.

Sometimes I know I have bad breath, which cuts down on my self esteem and confidence when dealing with others.

I mean, this is Canada and catching a cold and havingn a sore throat is not uncommon. But, the thing is ... a sore throat will give you bad breath. Any suggestions?

I agree

He submissivedave,

In that case, how about having a small bottle of antiseptic mouthwash to gargle with? Gargle periodically throughout the day and stay confident.

i am good,

But I have read reports saying that mouth wash only makes it worst in the long run because the alcohol in these antiseptic mouthwash dries up your mouth fast [although kills bacteria and leave a minty scent temporarily]. Since reading these reports I only use mouthwash once a day, which is in the morning to get rid of the "morning breath".
