It's been proven in psychology research that we cannot handle more than five true friendships at a time. Those social butterflies they have shallow acquaintances but not true friendships. The time that if you're ever in real trouble you can call them and get their help those are real friends not drinking and clubbing buddies.

Social media was made for women. They like to gossip and show off so it fits their mentality perfectly. I have one female family member I've told her countless times get off Facebook it's the toilet of humanity like Instagram but it's like crack cocaine for her. She can't let go of seeing what everyone else is up to.

I tell her get off that crap and go read a book, a newspaper etc. Social media has made people dumb especially a lot of women. Karl Marx said religion is the opiate of the masses. I think it is really social media. Keep them dumb so they're docile and can be controlled.

The only social media I maintain is LinkedIn in to help me land future jobs. But even that is becoming a joke too. Too many white collar feminists spewing their crap and their beta "allies" clapping everything they say. I try to keep quiet on there because living in Canada if you disagree the left will squash you. There is no freedom of speech anymore.
Lots of great responses, I appreaciate it, and all of you are right. What's posted on social media, isn't real. People only post what they want you to see. That dude bragging about his kid getting into Harvard will probably leave out the fact that he and his kid don't even get along that well. That lady showing off her remodeled house will leave out the fact that the power company is about to turn off her electricity. That couple getting married won't mention the fact that the groom as a drinking problem.

Social media really is like a drug.

Does this happen to anyone else? You go on facebook, and you see your one friend getting married, another one posting pics, from their latest vacation, Another friend bragging about how their kid just got accepted into Harvard, You can't help but compare your life to theirs. and you feel like crap afterwards. When people ask me how I spent my christmas, I respond "in the hospital with pneumonia" and they don't know how to respond. Do you often find yourself comparing yourself to other people on facebook? What do you think of all these people who brag on facebook about how great their lives are? I actually deleted my facebook account today because it seems like everyone else's life is better then mine. I've had enough. I should have done it sooner.

As anyone else experienced this before? It seems like everyone on facebook has a better life then you.
Yes! I deleted mine a few months ago, not for other peoples lives being better, more for the fake post. Issue being so many of my girlfriends were posting like life was fab posting designer bags etc.. only to constantly text me complaining over finances. I asked one girl if your broke why are you purchasing Louis Vuitton only to hear it was a knock off purchased for 60 bucks....lmao
Then other friends acting like they are in amazing relationships constantly venting how miserable they are with the guy.
It is such a fake platform and now everyone is using it to try and sell you something. Truly can not be bothered studies are showing more and more it does cause people to get down on themselves!

this is insanely true. i have a few friends at the verge of divorce this holiday, but alas on social media its all about how incredible their spouses are.

i've seen someone get caught for cheating bigtime, huge drama ensued, where they immediately 'worked it out' and the next day on social media it was promoted how much they loved eachother.... it's gotten so whack.
