I want to go to an Italian restaurant for dinner. It needs to be within the GTA and have good selection of pasta and pizza as my party (about 4 incl. me) do not eat meat and LOVE those two. Alcohol selection will not matter as there will be no drinking, unless everything works out and there is a toast and THEN it will matter.

The decor should be nice, and not anything like a Jack Asstors were its loud as hell since some business needs to be done at the table.

Any input would be great.

I've been to Spezzo tonnes of times and would love to go a place like that only in Toronto. The meeting would be early in the coming week (i.e. Monday or Tuesday and after 5pm).

I have two in mind right now, but before I say them, just want to see what others might have. Oh, also..for dress, I dont want a 'no suit, no service' place, but all coming will be well dressed.

Veni Vidi Vici is something I'm leaning towards for now based on what other people have said, but still am open to options.

the food at veni vidi vici is not that great imo, but there's good martini bars on college after dinner

try sotto sotto on avenue road close to yorkville - the food is better there

I agree with Sheik. Rosa's place is excellent. It's a nice place if you want to impress a lady too.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry for the double negative also :(.

I would like upscale, but minus the whole suit thing (if that makes any sense).

As long at there is a selection of pasta that does not have meat it should be a good choice from the above mentioned places.

Two suggestions for the best Italian in the city:

7 Numbers, on the south side of Eglinton, one block west of Avenue Rd.
Gio Rana's Really, Really Nice Italian Restaurant at the corner of Leslie and Queen

The 2nd is owned by the guy who used to own Gio's on Yonge Street - "the nose" from the Amex commercials - and the 1st is owned by his cousin Rose from the commercial.

Food is traditional Italian. Four courses ordered separately - antipasti, main, pasta, and insalata. Food is phenomenal at both.

7 Numbers is very small and intimate - probably no more than 12-15 tables in the whole place. You have to watch for it carefully - the sign is just stark white with the business registration number in the corner (a seven-digit number, hence the 7 Numbers nickname).

Gio ... is bigger and a little more trendy. There is no sign, but it's right on the northwest corner, in an old BMO branch.

Sorry ... just noticed that you were looking for pizza too, which neither of these have.

In that case, I'd recommend Amore on the east side of Yonge Street between Broadway and Erskine, about 2 1/2 blocks north of Eglinton.
