I don't want to beat a dead horse but is there nothing out there for direct tv and even for regular tv without ppv. I am surprised considering all the wizards out there. Has direct tv done there homework. I am still hoping something will come along, I don't want to take it down and then there is a fix. Thanks guys Dartman

Dish is swapping over to Nagra-2 Encryption. I doubt very much they will be completed by September… more likely early next year. The past week was interesting with the increase in ECM activity… this only goes to proves that Nagra-1 will still be around a lot longer then one might expect.slademan said:

So a hack on Dish meant a workable hack on Bell. Bell was a worthwhile hack since you had all the PPV and porn channels… yeah 11 hard core porn channels 24 hours a day…. However the CRTC ordered Bell to secure there system or lose there license to operate. Bell has since just about completed the card swap to Nagra-2.
The good news is that Nagra-2 in use in Europe and German hackers have dumped a Nag-2 card over there. The ROM may be different then the cards used here but it’s a good sign to know the Germans have got a dump. NagraStar quickly patched the hole the Germans found open… however only time will tell what could be next. Once everything is swapped to Nagra-2 Charlie better watch out!

I have Star Choice legally. I got the receiver and the dish free when I bought a couch at the Brick. Dollar for dollar it is cheaper than Rogers cable. Then again, I dont watch enough tv to warrant the extra specialty channels (Playboy etc.)
