A cat has been rescued after he was found dumped, along with his belongings, on the side of a road east of Toronto.
According to the City of Pickering, the male cat was found around by operations staff near Concession 7 and Brock Road in North Pickering on Wednesday morning.
"Abandoning an animal like this is extremely neglectful, as they are left to fend for themselves against coyotes, vehicular traffic, and the weather," the city said. "We cannot comprehend this act of cruelty."

The cat is being cared for in a shelter until he is ready to be adopted into his “forever home,” the city said.
The city is reminding people who can no longer take care of their pets to bring them to an animal shelter.
Animal Services is asking anyone who has information on where this cat might have come from to call 905-427-0093.

It breaks my heart, and broke the heart of the poor cat. Cats are very territorial and attached to their home. He is sitting with everything he knows.

It is hard to believe somebody can abandon a defenseless animal like that, no matter the climate.

I hope they find the person and he/she gets a big fine.

It is so unnecessary because there are animal shelters and kind people everywhere who will take in an animal and care for it until it can be adopted.

I support a group of women in Hamilton, that takes in all kind of unwanted animals, not only cats and dogs, but rabbits and rats. I consider these women angels.

I love animals, I just hate people.

The older I get the more I like animals and the less I like people. My best friend is a cat.

Rich soccer player and his cousin abusing cats. His West Ham (soccer club) team mate starting using the race card to try and get sympathy and for the story to die down.

An young old landlord of mine used to slap his fiances dog around. She caught him twice doing it and still married him. When someone has the hots for someone, something like animal abuse, racism and other loser qualities etc. are quickly forgiven and overlooked and they're a "great guy"

I recently got a cat just before Covid. First pet I have had since I was a kid.

Did not realize how similar a cat is to a dog. This guy is super loyal, follows me around the house, sleeps with me, runs to the door/window when it hears something, plays fetch, attacks things and is a damn good mouser.

I wanted to let him go outside and to be safe from coyotes, etc, so I built an elaborate catio where he can pretty much circle the house through various tunnels, bridges and safe zones.

Can't imagine why someone would abandon a pet like that.
