Who the hell goes to a mall and tie up a public piano for 2+ hours? It's not cool really.

People don't want to appear in his video and he goes all "UK is a free and democratic country, you're all Chinese commies" seriously this guy's POS.

I see the British guy with the shades on TikTok all the time playing killer boogie-woogie piano in that shopping centre. Usually the audience there loves it.

Hard to tell the back-story here.

Seems the Chinese people were objecting to him being filmed in performance, which also perhaps included them in the audience in view of the camera lens.

Maybe not allowed to video in public in Communist China?
People video tape everything in China. You have zero right to privacy over there and it is only communist in the name of the party, more capitalistic then we are.

Fuck’em. The CHICOM diaspora is what 21st century colonialism looks like; as far as they are concerned the only thing wrong with the world is that they aren’t running it.

UK (and Canadian) law allows people to film in public areas. They have the right to ask and he has the right to say no. The dumbest part is by trying to demand he stop, they became an international story rather than being in the background of a video that 99.99% of people won't have seen.

Their attempt to enforce their version of personal rights is the sole reason this became viral. No matter what his intent was in filming or the way he responded, the law is 100% on his side about filming.

Despite the rambling generalizations of the angry anti-immigrant types, there are a few different groups of the recent Chinese diaspora, each with their own motivations. People who expect to get back to China know that they can be held accountable for not being supporting the Chinese government. People who still have immediate family in China MAY be cautious about being in the public eye to protect their families (there are still some outspoken voices). There are also people who left China to get away from that crap and are outspoken about it.

And then there are older generations of immigrants, mostly who fled because of the government or have been here since before Chinese communism was a thing.

But yes, China is massively engaged in their own version of colonialism with their high interest loans to poor countries and attempts to rule expats (like these unofficial police stations in Toronto).

Little Pinks Play the Victim, Facing Backlash in Both China and Abroad, Calls for Deportation Arise

However, Liu's video did not clarify facts as intended but instead drew ridicule and criticism both domestically and internationally.
On China's Weibo, many criticized her for demanding respect in the UK for a law nonexistent in China. Some mocked it as a "planned action" intended to "destroy China's image."
Overseas criticisms were harsher, with many seeing her rhetoric as typical of the Chinese Communist Party – throwing tantrums, distorting facts, and making unreasonable claims. These are all only worsening her image.

The saga involving British internet sensation and pianist Brendan Kavanagh has escalated dramatically, and this time, it’s not just a simple battle against ‘little pinks’, another term for Chinese nationalists. Kavanagh’s confrontation might involve an organization allegedly connected to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), potentially turning the conflict into an espionage drama reminiscent of a ‘Red 007’ scenario.

Shocking! More China's Spies Are Being Caught in Western Countries: Young, Attractive, Student-Like

Lately, more spies of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) have been exposed in Western countries. It has been reported that the FBI has arrested the female CCP spy, Yanqing Ye, who had been wanted since 2020, although the FBI has not officially confirmed this yet. The FBI has accused Yanqing Ye of engaging in espionage activities for the Chinese Communist government while studying and conducting research at Boston University. Alongside her, Harvard professor Charles Lieber, who had a cooperative relationship with her, has also been apprehended.
