Pretty sure I gave this advice to you before but try meetup.com there are a number of them in the gta for rpgs, boardgames, d&d etc. I met some guys a few years ago that way and we still play regularly (2 or 3 times a month)...... keep in mind I had to play in about three or four groups and one guy cherry picked myself and a few other gmaers that he met to make a regular group. Have you tried that website?

I just went and typed in roleplaying and found groups for dungeons and dragons, pathfinder and other groups that play all sorts of rpgs. Get out there try some of those groups meet some people.

Also you could try game conventions where people are running one shots..... might be a way to meet a GM.

Never tried facebook but that might work.

As you mentioned gaming stores..... but seems most stores people are meeting to play magic, heroclix, warhammer and other mini based games.
Regarding meetup.com

"There are clubs near by with lots of members, but sadly they are all an hour away. I guess it is the curse of living in a smallish city. "
I did take your advice. Huge clubs, but alas too far away. I suppose I could put up an ad, but from other small towns it seems a dead end. Even Kingston and St Johns which are major population centers compared to my burg were lacking. I suppose I could put up my own ad, I hesitate for various cromulent reasons. It doesn't help that the few roleplayers I've run across in town are not really the sort of people I'd want to game with. We had munchkins back in the day, but lord tunderin jasus b'y. I've been getting a lot of that reaction in general here. Never met so many people who were high school drop outs and so willing to admit it in public before I came here. I had weird shit happen in Hamilton, but I'd go back there is a second.

I did put an ad in the forum of my preferred gaming system, but alas no response. There was one group, but again too far.

The game store thing. A bloke put an ad up in a hobby store back around 1987 or so. We never actually played there and the place closed down ages ago. However at least in terms of warhammer, I'd assume there is some overlap. After all D&D started from wargamers if I got my history right.

Are there not online forums dedicated to gaming? I have no idea, but I would assume there are, and that would be a place to start.

I just checked and Georgetown, Brampton,Aurora, Bowmanville, Buffalo, Kitchener Waterloo Cambridge, Niagara(port colborne)

Try making your own. Run one shots so that if you don't like the people no problem.

Saw an ad on kijiji so that or craigslist might be options as well.

Never tried facebook but that might work out as well.
