I've been using it for abt 6 months now out of my Houston condo, whenever I am there , mostly for calls to Europe and Africa but to Canada as well. Crystal clear communications, both ways, and you can't beat the cost (free after the set-up )
Clearly, the way to go and glad to hear that it's available in TO now as well.......
Skype has been around for a few years now and has recieved good reviews. It is free and legal.
There are other free programs out that do the same.
I used to use Yahoo messenger which predates Skype and works pretty well plus had an added feature of 'video chat' where if you both have web-cams you can see who you are voice chatting with and all for free. Yahoo sound quality would vary from average to crystal clear.
I Skype. Can't comment on quality versus anything else, but the sonic quality on Skype is very clear. I find it at least as good as a normal phone. Calling to a normal phone is easy as is calling someone on their computer.
I did invest in a good quality headset from Plantronics so that may make some difference in sound quality.
