The Hammer
First it cuts off Sunday Night Countdown.

Now it's cutting off Champions League. (thank god for TLN)

And its also cutting off PTI.

I'd like to see these ratings, because this really drives me nuts!

Can't remember the numbers off hand but I'll guarantee that curling gets 3-4x the number that football gets in this country. Plus I'll bet the Canadian Curling Assocition has it in their contract with TSN.

I love it. curling on the tube, uefa.com on my computer.

And you can have PTI. Blowhards.

Found some numbers. 4,899,800 watched the Scott Tournament of Hearts in 2005 through all outlets. (Inferiot to he year before when 6,700,000 watched on CBC/TSN.

somewhere only we know
I have watched curling once in a while. It is not bad. I think it is kinda interesting. Although I would rather watch football over it but it is still ok to watch. It does seem to very popular in Canada.

I could have written this post myself...

I try...I swear I try...to be open minded about other people's sports, because I am sick of the unwashed complaining about Golf on TV and asking how I could ever watch it.

But curling....fuck...not only do I not understand it (and I've asked TWO Canadians to explain it, and they could not), but FUCK!!! it is boring to watch...

What the fuck with the screaming? WTF are they saying? What is the point of the game...how can you keep score?

At least some...a very few...of the chicks are very fuckable.

But honestly the only thing more painful to watch is Figure skating...how they can cut off PTI for CURLING is mind numbing.

Of course, this is the same country where hockey rules...

Funny you mention that. I was reading some article in Business Week and because of the Johnson sisters and team and the fact they won silver at the Worlds, NBC is devoting a lot of time to curling because there is supposedly a big cult following in the States.

By no means Sharapova or Wie but what the heck.

I will say I remember being quite drunk at an Irish bar during the Lillehammer Olympics and being quite enthralled by curling. Then again, I can only hear "Drunken Sailer" so many times.

The numbers are huge for curling!!! I don't watch ity or get it but the numbers are big! I assume most of us are from Toronto so we have that (if it ain't big time then I ain't into it) attitude. But if you think of the rest of Canada...northerrn ontario, newfoundland, the prairies, alberta, maitoba, northern quebec, all accross these smaller cities and towns...they play it, they watch it and they love it!

Curling brings TSN & CBC huge numbers. It's a blast to play, I mean teh game encourages drinking!! Besides, there are a lot of hot women there yelling...harder, harder...hurrry hard!!!

Yeah I think they're yelling/screaming "Hurry...Hurry..Hurry". It looks like having last rock (hammer) is the key to scoring points. What's with TSN showing curling in Primetime tonight ?

Think of it as shuffleboard on ice.

There's tons of it on TV but the only time I watch is the World Championships and possibly some of the Canadian championships. Most sports that are between the best in the world deserve some watching.

Because it will get a bigger rating then any other program they can put
on.
Just look at last years backlash when it was not avab. on T.S.N.
The numbers are so huge that the C.B.C. tried to put it on a digital
channel last year to gain new suscribers.
