Money can not buy happiness, but it can rent happiness. Enough money can lease happiness for the rest of your life.

I knew a guy that had several businesses and he killed himself. You hear of people in show biz and the music business that self destruct because they do not realize happiness when they have money. I have to wonder about all the billionaires giving away all their wealth recently. Could it be that they feel an emptiness?

But they still leave enough for themselves to live comfortably.

Celebrities who self-destruct - usually it's because of drugs to relieve the stress caused by losing their popularity/fame (i.e. the drugs were a substitute "high" for the fame they previously had)

Here's the thing about money, if you're a miserable cunt who's always complaining and unhappy, winning the $20 million lottery will just make you a very comfortable, miserable cunt.

If you're generally happy and optimistic about life, making millions of dollars will just add to your happiness. And making billions of dollars will add even more to your happiness.

So in that respect, that old saying "money can't buy happiness" is true, but it usually just applies to unhappy people

Agree +1

I have been poor and I have been rich. I much prefer the latter.

Having money never make me happy but making money does. Sharing the money you have that when you will be happy the most. For instance, I like to share my hard earned money with escorts:thumb:

Of course! Just imagine I have the money to see escorts everyday, at least one girl a day!

One additional data point:

Guy at work was always living hand to mouth, had trouble paying rent, always asking for loans around the office to make to it to pay day.

He was pretty miserable all the time, drowning his misery in alcohol and drugs (the drug habit only made his money problems worse), would always be late to work or would call in sick at least once a week. He would frequently lash out at others when things at work didn't go his way, generally not much fun to be around.

Deep down he wasn't such a bad guy, but the financial stuff really made his outlook on life pretty awful.

Fast forward a bit and he comes into a 7 figure inheritance. Gets a new place in a nice part of town, finally has a car. Miracle of miracles, he starts coming in on time, hardly takes sick days any more and is generally cheerful now that he has no money worries.

So for him, no money = sad, lots of money = happy.

Maybe he's buying better drugs. :)

I watched my brother work two jobs to pay down 50,000 in debt, and pay his mortgage and family bills at the same time. The debt depressed him considerably, the earned extra cash liberated him. Money made him a happier, healthier man.

People who say that money won't make you happy usually don't have any.

money doesn't buy joy, peace, love or self awareness. But, it makes getting there a fuckload easier
