Imagine being in Shanghai recently. A city of 25 million experiencing 3000 daily Covid cases. The whole city was placed in lockdown. People couldnt go for groceries, medicines or even a simple walk. Social media outlets are monitored stringently by the government and anyone who complained was branded a traitor and warned of severe consequences. 10 weeks of being prisoners in their homes or offices.

Financial institutions required workers to shelter in place and to continue working. One toilet for 100 people was common in those buildings. No showers. Horror stories smothered by the government and leaked by the brave or foolhardy on WhatsApp.

Those shit heads who blocked downtown Ottawa and bridges are fortunate not to have been in China where protesters in Tiananmen were cut down to pieces and several run over by tanks in 1989..

I say to myself: Thank God for being a Canadian residing in Canada.
