I don't think the memo was that bad. Barr may have got of lot of inquiries along the lines of "what about this...what about that" so he sends a sweeping memo out.

He writes "clear and apparently-credible allegations of irregularities that, if true, could potentially impact the outcome of a federal election in an individual state."...I don't see the problem in that, wouldn't that be the policy anyway?

The memo isn't saying you are allowed to investigate.
The DOJ has always been allowed to investigate.

The memo says "you can make public announcements about your investigations" - which is just designed to play up the press reports and drive the narrative.
It's like the Ukraine call - they didn't need Ukraine to investigate Biden. They needed Ukraine to announce it was investigating Biden.

They need the press talking about the DOJ investigating ballot fraud so that "where there is smoke there is fire".

He must be worried about some of these investigations bearing fruit. Otherwise, why not hang in there for a couple of months and then work for a "cough, cough" impartial Democratic administration? You can even be a patriotic whistle blower and tell tall tales about Barr's misdeeds!

Of course, that only works if these investigations don't produce anything of substance.

Rather, he has integrity and sees Barr for what he is, one of Trump's puppets. ...and the investigations won't produce anything of substance.

I think my post has more grounding in the real world. Nobody quits their job (in the middle of Covid, no less) over their boss if they think they are getting a new boss in 2 months.

Wait, didn't you say all the previous investigations, like Mueller, were witch hunts?
Now they are legit?

Try reworking this until it makes sense and bears some resemblance to the truth. Then I might respond.

You just responded as you do when pwned.

Even Barr's Durham investigation was a total flop, an attempted witch hunt that totally failed.
This one is just whining.
Stupid. (To save keystrokes in the future, I'm just going to abbreviate to "S".)

Yes, your argument is stupid.
Lets summarize.

You believe that this time the investigation based on Trump's tweeting will be totally successful and get results because you feel he won the election though you have zero theories or evidence of wrongdoing.
You think that despite the history of Trump's claims of wrongdoing and demands of investigations that this one will be more successful than:
Locking Hillary Clinton up
Investigating the Clinton Foundation
Obamagate
Pizzagate
Durham investigation
Investigations into McCabe, Comey and the FBI

Somehow you believe this time Trump's tweets are really onto something.

Is Dutch Oven Budplug? I only say that because Budplug did the same thing, kept doubling down on a losing bet.

Trump has always pushed for investigations, not so much worried if they are true but because he leverages them to attack who he wants to attack. This is 3rd world tinpot shit.

Oh, and in a world of people with high ethical standards, you refuse to do what you think is unethical, or else resign. Even in the military you were under no obligation to follow an illegal order from a superior. Evil triumphs when people sell their ethics.

Yes, he admitted it in earlier thread.

Trump is nothing if not blatant. He tells everyone exactly what he's doing and how he's cheating and why he attacks the press.
As he told Stahl of 60 Minutes.

POLITICS
President Trump told Lesley Stahl he bashes press ‘to demean you and discredit you so ... no one will believe’ negative stories about him

The depressing part is that it works, his base believe him over the news. Fox, FB, Parler, there is an army working towards disinformation.
