Is leaving Iraq a defeat? I can only think its a defeat if your intention was to annex the country. the original goal of defeating hussein is accomplished. if the country collapses into civil war- it will iraqi killing iraqi. at least no americans or british trrops will be killed. if need be- can always invade again- the american death toll on the invasion were minimal- all the deaths have been afterwards.

Good publication, I bookmarked it;)

I think Newt has it about right.

Red, I do agree with you to a point, we did our jobs, the Iraqi's have to do theirs but if we leave before they can we're making the world more dangerous.

I often think back to when Bush landed on the air craft carrier and said mission accomplished- if only they packed up and left asap. then we wouldn't need to have these foolish discussions about cutting and running. Instead it would be we kicked your ass, we can do it anytime we want, and now we are going for beers.

No the original plan was to remove WMD least they fall into terrorist hands - leaving too soon might increase the chances that might actually happen.

Your re-invade idea is not practical politically - can you imagine the uproar on that and rightfully so.

bbk

WMD was the original justification but personally I think the reason was toppling hussein. as for the uproar over re-invading- it wouldn't be that bad if there was a reason and if they had left quickly and not incurred all these casualties.

That would be the biggest confession of his incompetence... and he would be stupid enough to do it unfortunately.

You're right. It wouldn't be that bad if there was a reason for re-invading.

If only there was a reason........
