Just caught part of the "press conference" announcing this on TV.

Now that he's signed, can somebody please tell him to play hockey and shut the fuck up.
Management should have included a clause so that we don't have to hear this idiot speak again. God he's annoying to listen to.

Some of these posts crack me up. Domi is a useful 3rd or 4th liner, chips in a couple of goals and in the playoffs is someone who gives it his all. He has a useful role. As for the lack of action, folks go out on the patio pour a drink and relax. It is early August, the season doesn't start for 2 months. Let's wait and see ho wthings play out. Every summer the media make sit like the sky is falling.....we lose Cujo.......!!! Sign Belfour; We missed out on Holik......worked out well didn't it?; every year they lay back and sign a couple of players...Nieuwendyke, Klee, etc., maybe it will be Allison, maybe Lindros, who knows? There are a lot of solid 2nd tier players who are still available.
Chill people. Before passing judgement at least wait until the season starts.
Chill!!!!

Tie was on Leafs Lunch on 640 radio today. He answered a couple of questions and then went nuts and took a strip off of Jeff Marek and told him that he was offended by what Bill Waters (who is an idiot I admit) said earlier today about the signing. He said that Waters insulted him, his agent and his family and is fed up with 640's anti-Domi position.

What an idiot

Buddy, I am laughing my ass off reading your expert opinions!!!
How many Stanley Cup rings do have have on your hands???
True, Hatcher has lost a step but the puck still goes in the corners and we will see who comes out with it and the Cup in June.
And Philly has how many??

Bobby is a great judge of talent,..........right.

hey handsome sugardaddy

His goalie out played the leaf's $5 million [aprox]
two years ago.[/QUOTE]

Bernie Parent also outplayed all the goalies when they won their two cups........are they signing Bernie?? Last time I checked, Clarke dosn't have a goalie yet. He has a qualifying offer out for Esche, Esche hasn't signed it yet though has he. If and when he does sign, then I will agree with you, that yes, he did outplay him. You don't think Bobby is taking a bit of a gamble here though...........what happens if Esche tells Bobby, that the offer isn't quite up to what he wants........Bobby, is already tapped out pretty much.

hey buddy,

i don't think you know your hockey. stats don't always measure the true vlaue of a player. you claim mike rathje is not worth all that much, well, i am more inclined to listen to people who know and play the game. rathje is very underrated. two things work against him, the fact that he played in san jose, and the fact that he doesnt score 20 goals or get 50 points a year from the blueline.

now that he is in the eastern time zone, and playing for a team with a good television deal in prime-time, his worth will quickly become known. ask san jose, specifically goalie evgeni nabakov about mike rathje! blocks shots, clears the front of the net, and definitely can man the point on the powerplay. his offensive game has never blossomed, but doesnt mean he can be taken lightly in that regard.

i agree with you that bobby clarke is a moron, but, i give him his due for the work he has done this off-season. leclair and amonte gone? no problem, just brought in two highly regarded youngsters in mike richards and jeff carter. forget about those two? forsberg for roenick? anybody in their right mind would call that a major coup. yes, derian hatcher is not what he used to be, but, he will not have to be the main cog on the blueline in philly. hitchcock had him in big D, he knows what he can and cannot do.

anyways, you wanna call out everyone here on different players. explain to me then, how does a guy who wanted to play here, and is regarded as one of the best d-men in the game, not end up here? talking about adam foote. i would have bought out mcabe or kaberle, to make room for him. lost their best face-off man in nieuwy, and arguably, the heart and soul of the team in roberts. they never will replace roberts. as for the very popular topic of domi here, he should never have been brought back, never! he is past his prime as a fighter, and he thinks he is an offensive force. for the money they gave him, they could have gotten a productive player. why don't they make a run for ziggy plaffy? where is jason allison, they could get him for cheap, with alot of bonuses.

say what you want about teams signing guys for terms too long, and money too high, but, they are being active. leafs will have room next year you say? so what, you think the leafs are smart enough to do anything with the cap room they have? not with this current regime in place. they dont do anything right here. look at the draft record of the leafs, who is the most significant player they have drafted the last few years. nik antropov??? please. were is this coliacovo guy? they never gave mcauley a chance to shine, and look at him now in san jose. think the sharks would give him back to the leafs for nolan now?

go ahead, open your mouth about my comments, just want to jump at the chance to see what you think you know about hockey. i don't claim to be an expert, like you do, but i do know alot about the players.

Plyrs99

I stick to my belief that anything longer than 3 years for a player over 30 years old, is too long.

Roberts, heart and soul of the team that can't be replaced?? Same thing was said about Dougie Gilmour, and Clarke.......and Sittler.....and Horton etc. etc...........point i'm making is, there are lots of strong character players. I love Roberts, and would have loved for him to still be with the Leafs, along with with Niewendyke. At their age, I would have given them the money they asked for, for one year, but not for two. Btw, I'm a season ticket holder of the Florida Panthers, so i'll still get to see the two of them.

Domi.......agree, waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money for him, and wouldn't have given him a two year deal either.

You cannot analyze the current regime as of yet........still need to see what they will have come October. To say they won't do anything with the Cap room next year, is laughable. If you will recall, it was this regime, that at the trade deadline last season, went out and got Leetch, and Francis, and Nolan......of which at the time, everyone in Toronto applauded the regime for "going for it". Now you lament about McCauley in San Jose. Well we wouldn't have had Nolan without McCauley going the other way. Now look at where they are with Nolan. THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T GIVE LONG TERM CONTRACTS. Serious injuries occur in this sport, and to tie up so much money is a HUGE gamble that can hurt team for a long period of time.

I am not a expert either, but I do have foresight to analyze a situation and look past the present.

Look at the new post that I am going to put up regarding Forsberg........then think as to why Lacroix did not resign Forsberg.

Every team dishes out bad contracts and Bobby Clark is the leading culprit, however, they were a Cup contender before and you can't tell me they're not better going into this year than the last season when they eliminated the Leafs (as they did the year before).
The one thing you have to give Philly credit for is that they recognize their mistakes and cut them. They had the balls to buy out Amonte and longtime Flyer LeClair. I think they overpaid for Hatcher, but he's no worse than any of the Leafs' defensemen.
I will defend Ferguson because I think he is handcuffed by Dick Peddie, who as president, couldn't go to the Teachers Pension Plan and tell them they had to pay players to NOT be Leafs anymore. He has fucked this organization so badly, he must have dirty pics of Tanenbaum, that's the only logical explanation for this guy to still have his job.
As for Domi, what a waste. I wouldn't even mind him if he would just please SHUT THE FUCK UP!! What a whiny little bitch! He's had it real good for a guy who shouldn't even be in the NHL yet he cries that the Leafs don't remember what he did for them... come to think of it, neither do I... hmm, let's see, I remember the Leafs on the verge of eliminating the Devils a few years ago when a completley senseless and stupid cheapshot on Scott Neidermeyer turned the tide of the series, geez thanks Tie! Asshole!

Yup, evey team does dish out bad contracts, the difference now is, that you can't buy yourself out of them as the Leafs, the Flyers and others have done in the past. You sign somebody to a long term contract for big bucks, and after the first year, you realize you fucked up, you can't just go out and sign someone new to replace them. That is the whole purpose here.........Clarke is nuts by giving out these long term contracts.

One more note..........Clarke wanted to get Adam Foote, but he wouldn't pay that much for him, so even the idiot Clarke realized that over 4 million for Foote was too much.

As for McCabe.........McCabe last time we saw him, was voted to the NHL's 2nd All Star team.........the first Leaf Defensmen to be voted to a post season all star team since Borje Salming.

No Adam Foote or Hatcher or Rathje on either the 2nd or 1st Team all-star.

Enough??

Never said he was elite.........I said that he made the 2nd team all star team and Foote, Rathje, and Hatcher did not.

I heard Domi on Mojo today and cheered him. Good for him, standing up to the media, many of whom take cheap shots at players then hide behind their mikes. Way to go Tie!

Nobody cares about Brashear, so let's just drop it. The guys a goon, with hands of lead and feet of concrete. Hopefully this "new and improved" NHL will see guys like him out of a job. I'm all for enforcers, and keeping fights in the game (within reason) but really, the guy has no usefulness as a hockey player. And I think he has Homer Simpson syndrome - a layer of fluid just inside of his skull surrounding his brain...it's like he's wearing a football helmet on the inside.

Anyways, some interesting milestones for Domi this year.

-- 1 goal and that will be career number 100 for him.

-- 160 penalty minutes and he passes Dale Hunter for 2nd all-time PIM leader. At that point he'll still be about 400 PIM's behind Tiger Williams. So another 3 or 4 seasons and he'll likely pass Tiger.
