I got a laugh the other night watching a show called On the Fly which is basically about customer service at Southwest Airlines in Ft. Lauderdale. This college kid is going to the Auburn vs Alabama football game and is wearing a sticker on his shirt that reads Go to Hell Auburn. The flight crew asks him to cover it up or take it off since they don't want a potential fight on the plane and he refuses. The customer service guy asks him again in about as nice a way as he can but the kid says that he works for some law firm and that he has a constitutional right to wear it and that he is going to call his attorney. The customer service guy says go ahead. So the kid calls his attorney, who I am guessing is his Dad. His attorney says play nice if he wants to fly. Big surprise there. But douchebag still won't take it off and instead gets a smaller sticker from a little girl and uses it to cover up the word hell. He walks on the plane like he just won at the Supreme Court. The last shot is of the customer service guy who just shakes his head and says that the kid should be thankful that he was saved by a 5 year old girl. I weep for the future when I compare douchebag's generation to that of the one 70 odd years ago that got their asses shot off for us.

And what is the point of this story?
Lets see three that spring to mind: A little knowledge is a dangerous thing; politeness and accommodation are generally wise ideas (a gentle word turneth away wrath); (and not that this really applies) being too close to an issue clouds one's judgment.

Yes, because one stupid Alabama fan from the South perfectly exemplifies an entire generation
Looks like Mr Roll Tide isn't the only douche

He very well could. Illustrative example. Its a thing.

I am not saying I agree or disagree with the view, only that his statement is cromulent if unproven. It did not come across as if he was trying to prove his ending statement.

His statement is unproven. He stated a single example and made a comment on the state of the youth. That is not a proof, but it is perfectly cromulent to make an illustrative example while complaining about the metaphorical damn kids on the lawn.
