Can anyone recommend any reliable and affordable duct cleaning services?

I know we get tons of calls but I don't think their reliable.

Also, is there a place where a new home owner can search for such service?

Central Ont. between here & there
If powervac is in your area, call them. Great service & they don't call you back. They leave a sticker on the ducts by the furnace with suggestions on when to call back. Doing a new home is great idea. I've done that 3 times over the years. Even had the builder bet me it was a waste of time & money.... he was shocked how much came out. He paid for it, & now does it on all new builds & big renos

I have used Air Force Duct Cleaning, based on their reviews on Home Stars. I was very impressed, and highly recommend.

Just wait 30 minutes and you will probably get a call from a duct cleaning service company........ from a random number.
I got calls from duct cleaning service all the time. I blocked them using call blocking service, yet they use different phone numbers
all the time.

Let me guess.

He will have a thick Indian accent and tell you about the most excellent promotion he has on right now.

Do you really need duct cleaning if you change the furnace filter regularly?

I use to get duct cleaning and window replacement calls weekly. I tried blocking and telling them to put me on the do not call list. Didn't work, so I started telling them that I was the tenant and not the homeowner. Or for the duct cleaning calls, I told them I had radiators and didn't have any ducts to clean. Haven't had a call in 6 months.

Yes, most definitely. I used to change mine monthly, fan on 24-7 helps to keep the house a more constant temperature. Cleaned the ducts every 3-5 years. Kept the dust in the house to minimum.
But if the filter is trapping the dust that is circulating, how can there be any dust left in the ducts?

I just rev them up:
My duck are ok, but doze geese are shitting all over the place. If you clean my ducks can you clean up the geese as well?

Or:
Oh, ducts are ok, but fireplace chimney needs cleaning.
We cremated the dog last winter, and it kinda drips black bits now,
Can you clean my chimney?
Because the cats are getting kinda old, and we want it ready if one of them goes next winter.

They don't call back for a while after lines like these.

air entering cold air return ducting is not filtered until it reaches your furnace. There dust can build up in the ducting from cold air return vent to furnace.

I'm not sure if there is a mechanism for dust to accumulate in ducting between after furnace filter...

I think duct cleaning cleans your wallet better than your ducts.

.

Duct cleaning has never been shown to actually prevent health problems. Neither do studies conclusively demonstrate that particle (e.g., dust) levels in homes increase because of dirty air ducts or go down after cleaning. This is because much of the dirt that may accumulate inside air ducts adheres to duct surfaces and does not necessarily enter the living space. It is important to keep in mind that dirty air ducts are only one of many possible sources of particles that are present in homes. Pollutants that enter the home both from outdoors and indoor activities such as cooking, cleaning, smoking, or just moving around can cause greater exposure to contaminants than dirty air ducts. Moreover, there is no evidence that a light amount of household dust or other particulate matter in air ducts poses any risk to health.
