It just amazes me the difference between news coverage over the earthquake.

After learning of the disaster I turned to BBC world, watched for awhile then thought I'd check CNN. From nonstop video, interviews etc from BBC world, I tuned into an Andy Griffith Christmas album commercial on CNN. Several more commercials later they returned to local news, I returned to BBC.

I still have not heard from family in the region, but I don't know if they have power or not in Jakarta. They are probably ok as they are not usually on the coast but vacation in Aceh and in Phuket.
I'll have to stay tuned to BBC.

Only 20,000? Hardly even newsworthy, eh?!

Only? WTF?

Now the number is 60,000. Thats from the initial Tsunamis. I think you will breach 200,000 by the time this is over. Deceases and etc will add to total.

Worst disaster in human scale in the last 100+ years. I took the money I would have spent on MPA's since September/04 and donated it to the Red Cross.

Makes you think whats important. You watch bodies of 4 year old children being pulled from water all bloated up. You see a father crying over his dead daughter.

For me, I am sorry to say that I am going to spend all money I think of spending on MPA's and Strippers to the devestated areas. I urge everyone else to do the same.
