Anybody else frustrated by EBay?

Not the quality of the items I mean. I have bought many things on EBay and sold on EBay. I estimate that I have saved thousands of dollars buying on EBAY. You have to be careful with predatory sellers who overcharge on shipping but overall I have been satisfied.

What I find frustrating lately are the unbelieveable number of new idiot buyers on the site. Bidding on items that are waaaaaaaaaaay more than they are worth. My example: I broke my TaylorMade TPBurner 5Wood a few weeks ago and I know they are worth $239 each at GolfTown or Nevada Bob's. I have been bidding on several over the last week and every time *newbies* to Ebay are bidding far too much for the golf club. Just tonight some idiot paid $322.50 not including shipping at approx. $30 for the club.

Who does that? What idiot doesn't do their research and overpay by 60%??????????

Just a rant. A frustrating rant.

As far as I've heard from eBayer's, it's a joke now. People are stopping selling because there are a lot of joke/fake/dishonest buyers out there that are over bidding and not paying, or receiving and claiming it wasn't shipped to get the money back. Seller's right are zero right now and most are getting hosed by losers taking advantage of it.
Unless they wake up, I'm wating to hear the end of eBay announced any month now.

in the past, Ebay has launched its very own investigation on bidders, that over b charged on items. At one time a seller was selling a product on Ebay, and when ever someone put in a bid, it as counter with a high one. An investigation was launch and the few counter bids were connect to the seller itself, and charges were laid against the seller for inflating bids..

I stopped using ebay after several bad experiencese.

Once, I bought a laptop that broke within a few months.

As a seller, I sold a gift card to a buyer who paid but later said he didn't get the item. The amount was refunded to him, and I lost about a hundred dollars. There is absolutely no recourse for this case, it's his word against mine, and ebay will not resolve it.

Will not use ebay again as the deals gone bad end up costing any savings I may make from getting a good deal.

Not sure I understand the "didn't receive the item" complaints. Whenever I sell on eBay, I always ship by courier. Thus, there is a signed record that the buyer picked up the item. If items are mailed, register the envelope. Really not too difficult for a buyer to guard against this. The "broken" claims on the other hand can easily be scammed. As for the shipping rates, I always negotiate before bidding on an item. Most buyers who are serious will agree to a reasonable price.

It's still a great site for buying/selling stuff. One just needs to use a bit of common sense.

i've had my up and downs with ebay, mostly up thou. you just have to be realistic in what you can expect to buy. any electronics is iffy unless it's small with relatively small components (less to breakdown). just be smart and do your research (like you do on terb!!!) and you will be able to tell what's good and bad.

I got a intake manifold for $75 last year--a old model no longer made but still is on E-bay now and then, most sell for $60-$70. I sold it last spring and got $151 plus $25 to ship it :p

Yes, people do over pay, they get in a bidding war and forget other places might have it.

BTW...I have a carb for sale right now...anybody want to help jack the price up for me, lol.

Another thing I don't understand is why bid on a item days before...I mean you can't remove your bid, how do you know another part just like it but at a BIN price might pop up.

Unless I can't bid at the very end, I always wait until the last few mins before placing a bid and I look to see if anything else like it, just came on E-bay before I bid.

I think that many of the early and near end bids are false in an effort to generate interest at the start and push up the bids at the end. A number of times I have found myself in a bit of a bidding war near the end and after giving up and losing I notice that the exact same item from the exact same seller magically shows up again an hour or so later. Granted some items are from small retailers who use EBay as another selling point but I am sure there is a lot of manipulation out there.

Otherwise, as you say, why bid so early?

E-bay is alot like hobbing---it is--you never just know what you get till you get it, sometimes it be better than you thought it be, sometimes not AND you can't take the " I got to have it" or you get screwed. Just like if you get hung up on have a certain chick...

Perhaps it depends on the market price of that particular club in other areas. Sounds like it's a deal at Golf Town and Nevada. Go there and buy it.
