I am using Hotmail as one of my Email account.

How do I know that an Email I sent has been received?

I believe that if it is not returned by the ips it has gone thru, but that does not tell me if it has been read (and perhaps ignored).

Is there a way to get informed that the recipient has opened the Email I sent?

I looked thru the Hotmail options and could not find anything addressing the subject.

You can't do anything like this with Hotmail. Corporate Exchange server, yes, but definitely not any webmail service like Hotmail, Gmail, etc.

There's things called 'Read Receipts' but usually it's up to the recipient whether or not they want to acknowledge the 'Read Receipt' -- so if they decide not to send a response, you still wouldn't know if they had read it or not. I don't know if Hotmail offers this option anyway.

Also with regards to not receiving a notification from the ISP/mail server, the ISP/mail server may attempt delivery several times and it may be 24, 48, or 72 hours before you finally get a failed delivery notification... if the address is invalid however it will usually be rejected right away and you'd know by now.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Muskol.
Hotmail does not have this option.

You can call the recipient and ask if they got it.

attatch Hotmail email to WIndows live mail & select read receipt, as said above though, its no guarantee that recipient has just ignored to click.

But, but she wouldn't give me her telephone number. It is very rare but it has happened where a lady would not give me her telephone number.
