I want an Iphone but I don't want the contract or huge monthly fee.

I already have a cell phone with a great plan and no contract. Is an Ipod touch exactly the same without the phone capabilities? I think the touch doesn't have a camera but is there any other disadvantages or advantages? I know the itouch can connect to hotspots so the internet capability is not an issue.

Wait for the new touch. I hear it will have a larger memory and also cheaper. Not sure when it comes out though.

The iPhone has a phone, camera and GPS... plus if you had the data plan you could use Roger's G3 network to access the net instead of trying to find free wifi.

go for the Iphone...it has everything that the iTouch has plus some more...in fact it has virtually replaced my laptop. you dont have to take the data plan from your provider but you have call them and ask them explicitly to block the data port and tell them you will use the wi-fi for internet access. else the bills will kill you. i use only wifi and it works like a charm as I have wireless available in my office, home, fav restauraunts etc...hope that helps

There are the copy iphones around that seem to work pretty good. and you can put your own sim card in.

that is true, but those phones don't come with internet capab. and the interface isn't as polished/bright. It's just not the same prod. I have one, they can take 2 sim cards and a microsd card. Also gsm unlocked. For 80 bucks more, go for the touch.

IMHO

The Iphone copies are just regular phones that just look like an iphone. You don't get the cool features of the iphone like internet capabilities or the downloadable aps.

I bought the Touch for the same reasons. I am locked into a Telus contract for another year, and I refuse to pay the exhorbitant data costs that come with an iPhone. I'm very happy with it, and the app store has a treasure trove of tools and games that you'll never grow tired of!

As to the Touch being the same as the iPhone, yes, except for no camera or GPS. Otherwise it is identical, and in fact better because it comes with a higher memory capability than the iPhone.

Whats the projected Life span of an Iphone!? less than a year with wear and tear?.....
side note....anyone see Extreme Movie? ..there is a part where girls vibrator dies and she looks so lusty eyed at her cellphone...she sets it to Vibrate and call herself to get off...in the process its gets it stuck in her vagina...i'd call her

I bought the Touch back in the Fall of 2008 and it doesn't have a scratch on it. I have a screen protector, don't put it in a pocket full of keys or coins, and have a rubber type case on the back of it. I expect it will last for years, simply because I take care of it. The true glass screen doesn't scratch very easily, and if you take care of it, it will last for quite a long time.

Get the phone.

The fees aren't as bad as thought at first.
I pay $65/mth for cell minutes and 6GB data combined. I use it a lot and have never exceeded 1GB/mth though.

What is the cheapest plan one can have from Rogers for Iphone? along with 6GB of Data Plan. Will Rogers give me the Iphone if i ask them that i dont need their data plan, and only use wiifii facilities whereever it is available like house, office, downtown core, or starbucks coffee, will they charge me more for the cost of iphone? as presently i have completed my 2-years contract with them, will Iphone be working with my same SIM CARD and i can use my same present plan if i change my instrument to Iphone? as o am not a technical person some sound advise would be really grateful for me to decide i should get iphone or blackberry bold 9000 which is better for text, mms and other useful things i can do.

Thanks for the replies - anyone head about super-sized Touch coming out soon? They're supposed to be Apple's answer to "net books". Is this just a rumour? Man, I wouldn't even hesitate to get one!
