I rarely call Enbridge but I called them to-day and there is no option to talk to a human. Is talking to a live human on the phone no longer an option?

Contact their ombudsman and complain about it. I'm sure you'll at least get a response. If people don't file official complaints, they will keep on automating everything.

The option to talk to a person is there; we have two meters with Enbridge (who merged with Union Gas); one at our primary residence and one at a rental property.

Enbridge won't read their own bloody meters; they will bill you based on Estimated Use for months on end (which is always too much); and then you have to call them to get Billing to adjust your account when it turns out the actual meter read is less than their Estimates which they have been using for six months.

I now go Online and provide the meter reads myself every month, in order to ensure that the Billing is correct. If they have any doubts as to my numbers, they are free to come over to my properties and take a look; so far, it seems that they are willing to go on the Honour System.

Are you able to actually talk to a live agent in Billing? I tried Billing but didn't see any live agent option. I even pressed "0" only to have a computer voice say that is not an option.

I think you have to input your account information into the IVR first and go through a few different menus before you get the option to talk to a person...but we had to get an adjustment to the Bill for our rental property in February and we were able to talk to a person then.

Then who keeps leaving the bloody gate to the back garden open every couple of months? Gas meter is the only one behind a gate. We have signs up beware of the dogs and please close the gate. Ignored every time.

I like that they bill up instead of down, in fact, this month my bill was .82 cents or something like that because adjustment month, always nice to get hit with that "free" month (yes, I know I have already paid for it). I did not have to call them to adjust, they do it automatically. You can also opt in or out of equal billing.

Do any of you folks pay by credit card? I think there is a small fee but might still be worth it to some customers.

I don't think Enbridge will accept Pre-Authorized Payment by Credit Card; the only option online is Bank Account.

If you do find a third-party service to pay your utility bill by Credit Card, the fee will probably negate any points or cashback you earn. In addition, your Financial Institution may classify the payment as a "cash-like" transaction, subject to the Cash Advance Fee and interest will be charged immediately; I have seen plenty of complaints of this happening to people when they use their Credit Card to buy lottery tickets, for example.

We have one gas meter behind a gate that is locked intermittently during the summer; as there is a pool in the back yard and we don't want to get sued because some dumbass teens decided to go for a clandestine dip and drown themselves.

The other gas meter is at the rental property; condominium townhouses and the meter is located right in front of the house. No obstructions. Yet, since last year between July and December, Enbridge wasn't reading the meter and billing based on Estimated Use. The employee at Billing couldn't explain why Enbridge wasn't reading the meter.

I hate when they do that.

With OLG, use your debt Visa card linked to your bank account and you get no fee while working like a regular visa.

If the signs are only in English, there might be a problem if the meter reader doesn't understand English.

I learned the hard way a few years ago under different circumstances. I left a note for our office night cleaners that said: "Not garbage! Do not remove!" Next morning the files were all gone.

Only then did I learn that the night cleaners were all Portuguese immigrants (NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT!!!!!!!) who don't understand English.
