go see a bespoke jeweller and get something totally unique for her, there are lots of great artisans in the city that can make something amazing with that kind of budget. get some ideas from the kind of style your woman has and take it to them and see what they can come up with.

DON'T BUY RETAIL!!!!!!!!!.... I've sold jewelry for easy cash for years!..... If you want to get a good deal OR a nicer ring for your $ send me a PM and I'll let you in on a few secrets! I was selling at 30% off of retail and I was still making a killing!!!!

I'll save you the trouble....

I threw a diamond engagement ring into Lake Ontario off the pier in Lasalle Park in Burlington many years ago. Get your snorkle.

First time for me...and a long time since I've bought anyone a ring...so...can anyone recommend a good place to buy an engagement ring? I'd probably like to spend $4000-$5000...
Just hoping that it's not for a SP that you still pay to see.

I'm actually on the same boat as you.

I've been to Spence, Birks, etc, and I've done my research. I have found the place I will get it - it is going to be custom made; copied to ANY ring you want (Tiffany's, Birk's, etc). And it is the cheapest place I've ever seen.

This place is called 'Diamonds for Less', and apparently the reason why they're so cheap is because they ARE the wholesalers - they completely cut out the middle man.

Eg - for a 0.70 karat, G colour, VS1, excellent cut at Birks, i'm spending more then $8,000 (no joke).

For Diamonds for less, I asked for a 1.00 karat, E colour, SI2, excellent cut, he's giving it to me for $4,500 ($1000 extra for wedding band). Look at the savings vs. the quality - big difference!!

Anyhow, you can check my other posts, I'm not advertising these people, I genuinely think they're the cheapest out there - Just tryna help a fellow terbie out.

Let me know if you need any more info.

Between a rock and a hard place
She: Oh what a beautiful ring! Of course I'll marry you! You have such exquisite taste. Obviously you love me so much and I love you too. Where did you ever find such a gorgeous ring?

He: Oh I couldnt have done it myself. t was recommended by my friends on a dicussion forum

She: Was it some kind of jewellery experts discussion forum?

He: From time to time they do discuss Jewellery. Mostly pearl necklaces.

She: Well they obviously know a lot about rings too.

He: Oh yeah, engagement rings, Wedding rings, Suffer rings, you name it...

There is a larger variation of price due to VS1 to SI2 versus a smaller variation for .7 to 1ctw.

You can do a research on ebay to understand how pricing is correlated with the 4 Cs.

Like I said in my original post DON'T BUY RETAIL.... This guy thinks he's getting a deal on a custom gold band for a grand????..... I could tell you where to go to get it done for less than $500 AND I'm sure I could get a WAY BETTER deal on the stone as well OR a better stone for the same money.

You will be able to see the inclusions (cracks, feathers, and carbon spots) in an SI2 stone with the naked eye. I personally wouldn't go below an SI1 OR VS2 stone. The colour of the stone that he mentions is very good (E colour), when you're looking DON'T go below a F or G colour as an I colour and below will be tinted yellow or darker in colour.

GTA & Thereabouts...
WTF?!?!?! LOL.

14 year old nerco-bump and that is what we got?!?!?

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly! Is marriage even a thing in 2024?

A zillion years ago, I bought an engagement ring that was just a smidge under 1 carat (that's what the small shop had). She doesn't wear it. It was waste of money. Out of all the jewelry I've purchased (mostly from Birks), she's only regularly worn one necklace...
