It's all the same..A Hot dog from a vendor or from a high end place or from dominion is STILL a hot dog, you just get it from some where different. There are Escorts who charge the same as street walkers what are they then? The fact is this if you pay for a sexual service from and escort or prostitute it in the end of it all is still the same. If it makes someone feel better to call them escorts then it is what he may want to call it himself so he does not fell like he had a "prostitute". If you pay 500 for a sexual service (crazy by the way) you've spent a lot of money. If you spend 80 for the SAME sexual service you've spent a little money, just better packaging, (not all the time by the way) What do you call a Big mac in Toronto....a Big mac. What do you call a big mac in Hamilton...a Big mac. Are street walkers "dirtier" than escorts, mabe, some, but what is the real diffrence. One works outside and on works inside. Like in Scary movie...if a mouse is inside then it is a mouse but when it goes outside then it is a rat, but if the rat goes inside then does it become a mouse? My opinion!

Pretty much sums it up. A higher or lower class service, setting, or personality does not alter the definition of the profession. Prostitutes have been using the guise of escorting to avert LE for so long they blurred the line.Don said:

Very true, IMO. I'd say an escort from a reputable agency is more likely to be middle to upper class on the socio-economic ladder, a university student etc. . Not sure you'd be able to say the same for most streetwalkers.KWI said:

I think the principal differences are style and money. Escorts usually try to be more upscale; street-girls are never referred to as escorts. Price is the other difference as I doubt one would pay $350 and up for a street girl or find an escort for $50.

Another thing to consider is marketing.
Streetwalkers pretty much market directly -- they strut what they have to offer on the streets.
Escorts and such advertise on the internet, but before that, in mainstream publications such as classified advertising and telephone directories. The funny thing is that, while these companies were more than happy to take our advertising dollars, they didn't want to be saddled with a "prostitution" ad category. And so euphemisms arose, such as "escorts" to help them bridge the gap between what their advertisers were advertising, what some of their readers were looking for, and what wouldn't offend everyone else's sensibilities.

Escorts can be selective and can screen their clients. Services are for companionship only what transpires afterwards is between consenting adults. Prostitutes are typically chained to a pimp, working slave like hours, addicted to drugs, non educated and have short life spans.
