If Italy pulls this off, there will be a major brain fade of the corruption in the Italian League.
The party was over, nothing left in the tank and to many walking wounded but I'm still proud of The Azzurri. Spain are the best.

blackrock13, how I wish that the Italian League was more like the pristine EPL. We are also in a financial crisis and cannot buy a World Cup like England did.

No, but you can always go back to the usual tactic and try to cheat your way to a few more.

It's unfortunate the contest essentially ended when Motta went off injured, but that wasn't likely to alter the outcome regardless. I think that was karma for a terrible substitution. A goal is needed...and Thiago Motta comes on.

I just want to say thank you, gracias, to all who participated in this forum.

I want to express admiration for Andrea Pirlo, Mario Balotelli and Cesare Prandelli.

Euro 2008. World Cup 2010. Euro 2012. A remarkable statement of futbol.

Espan'a '12 and Brasilia '70. Two teams for the ages. The pinnacles to reach have been established by these teams.

Italy looked tired, they had highly skilled players on the bench and didn't use them. I blame the coach on the loss.

This.

Yeah, Motta wouldn't have done much playing against one of the greatest midfield ensemble football has ever seen.

Some people say Spain's ping pong passing is boring to watch and I am tempted to say: "Its trillions of light years better than watching any other nation play". Its efficient and entertaining for me greatly.

Iniesta gliding along the pitch ghosting past players, Xavi's third-eye passing, Alonso and Busquets holding the ship like another day in the office. Stunning display of 1-touch passing and movement, possession and they make it look too easy.

Italians tried few times to match them and couldn't do shit. Would have been a better game against Germany for sure.

Anyways, congrats to Spain and its a privilege to see them play.

I really like Super Mario. He has immense raw talent which, if he allows it to develop, should make him one of the greats of the game before he retires.

There is a big "if" there, because his personality at this stage appears to be his greatest obstacle. But being a black Italian with an adoptive Jewish mother explains a lot about the angst he must have suffered growing up.

I just hope that he matures and develops.

Holy Mackerel!!! Talk about a punctuating lesson in soccer. Was that last goal just rubbing it in and pay back for the long list of losses against Italy. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Spain werent rubbing it in, they're too classy for that.

I think they were just scoring goals for fun and giving the fans a show. Italy stopped defending in the 75th minute, they knew the gig was up

I don't think the outcome would have been much different if Italy had been well rested and made every coaching decision perfectly, that is a very, very good Spanish side.

I agree.
Spain is on a level I've never seen before.
Italy would have had to destroy the game and drag it into the mud and wait for an opportunity to have a chance.
To Prandelli's credit, his intention was not that ( not withstanding the very slow start), as Italian teams of old would have tried.
