did you do the math?
There is plenty of capacity, more and more cars have bidirectional charging, so soon we will have scenarios like the USA where Tesla owners can join the Tesla power company and sell power back at peak hours (of course Elon gets a cut). So this will allow our existing power grid to operate at a high load for more hours. So lets say you charge your car to 100% at night, and in the morning peak the grid takes 20-30% back (or whatever you want to offer). That will add a VAST amount of capacity to our grid will very little investment.

The only math important to me is the fact after driving EVs for 4½ years I've saved over $7000.00 and counting so far on gasoline, oil changes and antifreeze no longer needed !
That's money put in my pockets and not our Big Oil Cartels.

LOL ok. The truth is you are confusing Grid with Capacity. We do have the capacity to charge about 20% of all cars in GTA nightly. Can the grid support it, only in a few areas. But the only demand on electricy isn't cars and Ontarios plan to improve grids and capacity is going to jack those electricity rates. I'm all for distributed power but the reality is we are not on the business end, we are on the consumer end, and conflicting interests prevail - let the people pay they can tolerate gas prices so giddy up electricity has a lot of price headroom before they have to lift a finger.

EVs would work much better in off road conditions as power delivery control is 1000x better with an electric motor then an ICE. Also off road is slow so you will use very little power as well as recapturing power on descents. Lots of people driving EVs in very cold temps in SK and AB. Just make sure the vehicle has the range you need and the operating window for the temps. These will get less relevant with newer battery tech
Considering where the battery is located on most EVs, a good sized rock or chunk of ice can damage the battery housing, so unless you have a big skid plate. Also I think all modern EVs come with an impact sensor; disconnects the battery during an accident or a slide into a ditch so any impacts on rough terrain could leave you stranded.

If you are gonna do HARD CORE off roading then you should make sure the car has protection. Most off roaders have massive skid plates installed as driveshafts and other stuff can get damaged. I have heard the jeep wrangler PHEV can off road for ages in silence with its relatively small battery.

True but for the last 4½ years they haven't got a dime for any vehicle transportation !
