I find it amusing that "some" here have claimed that the "old" Europe was soft on terror because "old" Europe did not rubber stamp, never mind assist, US actions in Iraq. They also said that Spain had rolled over to terrorist.

Osama bin Laden has offered Europe a truce. And rightfully so Europe including old Europe told him to fuck off that they do not negotiate with terrorists and criminals.

Is "old" Europe soft on terror? Only in the minds of those to whom they do not bend over and submit to, and for these it is a great coercive tool to malign "old" Europe with the "surrender to terrorist" label.

They should have counter-offered with:

"How about you turn yourself in right now and we throw you in prison for the rest of your life, or, we'll hunt you down like the animal you are and stick a grenade up your a$$."

Good point! But err ... I think that the Germans are already in Afghanistan for that very purpose. And France sent Special Forces there as well. But it is good to see your readiness to attribute good will.

The point was that if they wanted to "surrender" they had a perfect opportunity to do so by just walking away ... not exactly "surrendering" and saying, "hey this is not our problem".

Why? He has no beef with Europe other than Europe attacked Afghanistan going after Al-Queda and the Taliban after 9/11 in solidarity with the US and in opposition to Terrorism. That was his only beef with Europe. I think he must be feeling weaker and wants to make a truce with them so that he can focus on the US. And that is not gonna happen. Hey maybe Pakistani and European forces might be getting too close to him after the winter thaw. While he has the US bogged down in Iraq as they went for his bait?

I hope I'm wrong, but somehow I do not think we will be allowed to forget him if he is ever found and martyred, and in some respects we shouldn't, anyway. We were given a wake up call on Sept 11th and although, I don't think many people took it as such, the cause behind the tragedy should never be forgotten.

It seems we like to think of ourselves as a civilised society, but obviuosly we have a long way to evolve still.
