Fake Arizona Election Audit by Ninjas backfires on them

Soon after the November election, the Republicans in the Arizona legislature hired Cyber Ninjas to prove everything from bamboo in ballots to all sorts of silly stuff would prove the Arizona election was a fraud and Trump won - aka "the big lie". The Ninjas had no experience with any election and some of the questions they asked proved they had no clue what they were doing.

Well guess what - the results are in:

The partisan review of Maricopa County's 2.1 million ballots cast in the 2020 election found a vote count nearly identical to what the county had previously reported, a draft report detailing its findings shows.

The state Senate Republicans who seized on former President Donald Trump's lies about widespread election fraud and ordered up the report and Cyber Ninjas, the inexperienced company hired to conduct it, are set to detail their findings in a public presentation Friday.

The draft report emerged Thursday night, and audit spokesman Randy Pullen confirmed its validity to KJZZ Phoenix. "It's not the final report, but it's close," he said.

The draft report shows that the hand recount found that President Joe Biden received 99 more votes than Maricopa County had reported after November's election, while former President Donald Trump received 261 fewer votes than the county reported.

Maricopa County's Republican-led board of supervisors pointed to the draft Thursday night, saying that it underscores the reality that the county ran an accurate election.

"You don't have to dig deep into the draft copy of the Arizona Senate/Cyber Ninja audit report to confirm what I already knew -- the candidates certified by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, Governor, Secretary of State and Attorney General -- did, in fact, win," board chairman Jack Sellers, a Republican, said in a statement.

"This means the tabulation equipment counted the ballots as they were designed to do, and the results reflect the will of the voters," he said. "That should be the end of the story. Everything else is just noise."

Elections experts in both parties, looking at the manner and the methods of the so-called "audit," have said for months that its results will not be credible. It was conducted by the Florida-based company Cyber Ninjas, which had no experience auditing election results and is led by a man who has repeated wild conspiracy theories about election fraud. The company and its volunteers and subcontractors did not follow standard auditing procedures, and observers from Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs' office repeatedly noted instances in which those conducting the review broke their own rules.

Still, former President Donald Trump and those who have propped up his lies about widespread election fraud have pointed to the Arizona review as crucial in their continuing effort to challenge the 2020 election results.

Here's what you need to know ahead of the Senate's release of the sham report:

So the Cyber Ninja just did a 1-off grift?....

I assumed that their results would be patently false and pro Trump, but easy to pick apart. Or that they would demand extra time and $ to perform forensic testing. Of course, the whole thing is bogus.

The cyber ninjas just conned millions of $$$$$ out of the AZ government for a service that was worth absolutely fuck-all!!!

It is a misnomer to call it an audit and it should never have happened in the first place.

In any event the results don't seem to have stood in the way of Greg Abbott answering the call of his fearless leader. I am sure Putin has a smile on his face

Abbott was being slammed nightly by Fucker Carlson and targeted by other MAGA mouthpieces over the last week or two, with threats that he would be primaried and Fox would endorse his opponents. I was puzzled until I saw that Fiddle-man is now suddenly going to include an audit bill in the most recent legislative package.

Given the results of the AZ audit, this is gonna blow up real good in the GOP's faces!

I dont think the outcome regardless of the direction of change, if any is really the point. The point is to show that the now former only twice impeached POTUS in history and sorest loser on earth, is still in firm control of the party and when he says jump even governors jump. It is about control and undermining confidence in the electoral process to provide cover for the discriminatory voting laws which the GOP wants and needs in order to win elections.

The DOJ and others started warning them they would be checked up on early.
They may have had plans to try and finagle the numbers but probably backed off because of that.

They are still reporting that they found all kinds of suspicious things. That's the point. The narrative is there, other "audits" are being proposed in other states, and they have laid the groundwork for rejecting any future elections. Also this cyber ninja guy made some money.

That they had to abandon the "we have new numbers" part is a minor setback.

Cyber Ninja's got some credibilty for this...they confirmed the results they were already confirmed by non-biased sources...if they had come up with a report that said Trump won because they found 50G votes that were wrong, people would have rolled their eyes calling them crooked.

I'm not sure it's as minor as you think. There has to be an attrition rate from all the promises broken - i.e. the endless litigation defeats which weren't even close, the audit that went nowhere, the promises that the army would intervene and make arrests. After 1 year, every initiative has failed. All but the hardcore are going to shrug and walk away.

You guys should wait for the presentation of the report this afternoon. Even the leaked draft identifies many irregularities. The result you cherry picked only speaks to the hand recount confirming (to a close degree) the certified vote count. However, the irregularities identified go to the reliability of the ballots themselves. I don't think the report will be a anywhere close to a clean bill of health. It's much more likely to be - we couldn't get to the bottom of the suspicious irregular ballots, given the nature of the electoral irregularities, so you you should adopt measures to ensure that future elections are not prone to the same problems and can also be definitively audited. That kind of conclusion would support similar audits in other states prior to the midterms.

The argument is you just need the hardcore.
The press is going to mostly report every new instance of this as legit until it collapses on itself.
The people who are only halfway paying attention only hear "there were lots of questions, there are uncertainties, and don't both sides always accuse the other side of cheating?".
The point is to maintain that "vague sense of doubt" and general sense that the system is broken so probably these proposals to fix it are worth it. "After all, where there is smoke, there is fire."
That's all you need.

Look at DO in the post above. He is trumpeting exactly this.

That's the point.
Of course, the voting bill the Democrats have submitted would support better standards and more ability to audit definitively.
That's why the GOP opposes it. Because the point is not to have real audits, but to be able to claim it was justified when you invalidate a result for partisan advantage.

Of course that's what they'll say, Dutch. That way they avoid being demolished for not reporting the truth, while at the same time leaving lingering doubt and the probability that they can grift many $ millions in the future "auditing the irregularities".

The monkey in my sign pic could have predicted exactly this.

Your monkey confirmed election irregularities that the SoS should have investigated before certification?

So is THIS the entire friggin' deal???!!!???!...

FADvpS8VUA8sWlk.jpg

This is pretty fucking sad for months of "auditing" with a "crack team" at a massive taxpayer cost.

If THESE are their questions, couldn't they just have asked a few more questions during the "audit" and done a little more work and then simply resolved the issue???...... But of course, where would their next few $$$$$ million come from then?!?!?!?!
