80s tunes

herames said:
Fucking anthems for me >>>
The Smiths "How Soon Is Now?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U5HpeA_WSo
(quote)" i am human and need to be loved...just like very one else does..."

Wow ...this one took to long to come up!
One of the greatest 80s songs written ....Morrissey ...one of the best ...all the songs they wrote in such a short time ...amazing!

Also anything by Joy Division / New Order ....ground breakers for sure.

Another great song - Waterboys - Whole of the Moon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsNTmjlf1vI

What about Vince Clarke ...original member of Depeche Mode / Yazoo / Erasure ....man, he could write some songs

How about Midge Urge for Ultravox and Visage ...also one of guys behind Band Aid

Too many for sure ..but how about Paul Weller during his Style Council days ...great lyricist with a cause. I am not a left winger ...not even close but Paul could write songs against the big wheels of the world like no one else.
Shame to see his state now ....really disappointing.

On and on it could go

Heaven, definately Heaven
Too many good songs in the 80's. Yes, my focus was on British pop back then and I could go on forever with them. So if I was to pick one (1) that was a stand out, I think Sousxie and The Banshees crossover toon "Peek-A-Boo" is the winner. I was in London and watched its television video debut.....the reaction of the people who never operated a computer or knew what the Internet was, was "That was absolutely brilliant!" Met Siouxsie Sioux too.....only once.

She Sells Sanctuary by the Cult. Come on boys that's the best '80's tune. It rocks and "it's got a good beat, that you can dance to"

The record company has pulled the video from youtube

I was born in 1978 so I never really listen to a lot of 80's music except maybe in the late 90's. It is probably one of my favorite genres of music that I can never get sick of despite how cheesy some of these one hit wonders are. Here are a few songs that I have in my collection of mp3's.
But first how can anyone forget this one?

Animotion - Obsession

A lot of you have to separate nostalgic feelings from quality music. You like a song because it reminds you of a time and place in your life, not because the music is actually good. Most of what's been posted is trite, forgettable, stereotypical 80s trash. The best that the 80s did was bring out experimentation - eg. the incorporation of synthezisers.

60s, 70s, 90s is where you find the best in modern music. Organic timeless music.
