I think the setup at the Crown Plaza was nice .... busy enough that no one would suspect why i was there. That was daytime tho, no idea on lock downs .....
I like the Crowne too...I've booked myself a room there on occassion for extended encounters. Nice size rooms for what you're there for. I agree that the atmosphere lends to discetion. As for lockdown, they only lock down the Executive floors (top 2 or 3 floors) at all times (not just late) requiring card usage in the elevator to access them. I found that out one time when they comp'd me a room upgrade to the Executive floor.

Yeah not saying it's the case everywhere, but I tried that once a long time ago at a place...heh...found out real quick that the doors were all locked from the inside of the stairwell and the only open door was at the bottom (lobby)...was only 15 or so levels up but still... LOL
It can be really bad at that time.. But again, so can downtown too.. We find the late afternoon crowd on the way home like the out of the downtown core locations..
