I am just amazed at how the great man keeps tweaking his game. This year.. the drop is even better and he has a new backhand flick shot that he uses to return shots that have already passed him for winners...just incredible.

We'll see tomorrow morning. The top 4 are so much better than the field these days so it's hard to tell how well any of the top 4 are playing until the play each other.
That being said, GO FED

Novak will win the aussie open
My Euro budies sure are great athletes eh .
The mental toughness to go mano a mano for 4 + hrs and play till pass midnight is quite remarkable must have to eat a lot of Primo Pasta .
My Serb neighbour Novak had to go 5 sets but he beat Andy Murray in 5 sets.

I was cheering for Raonic (unlikely) and Fed when the tourney began.

After that my preference was ABN. (Anybody but Nadal.)

He also did that too in the semi's last year in the US open, before beating Nadal in the finals.

And you will be watching for how she doesn't do an overhand smash of high volley lobs coming at her. She waits, and times a hard forehand instead. That's all. You will be watching that. Nothing more. Lol.

Honestly she is gorgeous.

Fed's match against Nadal was very disappointing.. very flat. But....it marked the end of a 25 match winning streak. So Fed is still very much one of the top men. Murray played really well also, but lost on account of mental weakness. Double faults on some big points.. and the 4th set.. .UGH!!! But still, I was really impressed at his level of play. Huge potential for a break through year this year.

If you consider the likes of Fed to be a loser.. then I think everyone reading this knows who the real loser is,...

As the song says, "The old grey mare ain't what she used to be." He's only lost a tiny bit but the effect is quite significant.
Over the past few years, yes. But not this time. I thought Federer was playing his best tennis since 2007 going into the semis and he started off in incredible form.

It's just the match up, and the way he feels pressure and frustration against Nadal. It's just like with Marquez & Pacquiao in boxing. As soon as it starts tightening up, and he hears Nadal's footsteps, he starts having difficulties.

In the past, many of Federer's losses to nadal simply came down to a dozen wasted break points in which he inexplicably dumped a bunch of Raffa's girly 2nd serves into the net. This was not the big problem in the most recent match. But there's always something.

One perplexing issue that still happens to Federer despite countless experiences of getting burned: taking for granted that a point is over. After all these years, you simply MUST assume Nadal will not only run down a ball but make a shot off it as well. Especially the running forehand into the open court - it's almost safe to anticipate that shot and break for it in advance.

One thing about Nadal is tha he never takes a point for granted - he always plays as if he expects his opponent to run down everything he would, no matter how unlikely that is, almost as if he looks forward to having to continuing to play the point. One would think opponents would have learned by now that they too assume this when playing Nadal.
