File sharing programs

Hey there.I've been using Kazaa for the last few years but it has really dropped off over the last few months as far as users....can anyone suggest any other programs?...I' m guessing the main reason for the drop in sharers is due to the aggressive stance entertainment conglomerates have taken on piracy...I notice some files are coming up with " stoppers" on them.Any other techniques you folks have heard of that the entertainment industry has been using to curb filesharing?Other then the subpenoas I guess)?

Kazaa no good?

I use Kazaa ++ lite - kazaa without the spyware and it apparently blocks any RIAA snooping - you may have to look around to find it - just had a look and there are at this moment over 3 million users sharing 527 million files - cant quote how many users/files there were 'before', but i have little problem finding what i am looking for

winmx is way better than Kazaa [lite] IMO

I generally get far more results and greater diversity, but it is slightly harder to get the dl's going.

There is too many coorupt files on Kazaa... there is no where near as many corrupt files on Imesh, but it is full of adware.

currently I am trying out Emule which has no adware or spyware

Kazaa's user amount has declined considerably over the last 6 months .......at that time the average user amount at any given time was betweem 8 to 10 million.I find now it is much harder to download TV series ex.WEST WING, ALIAS etc as well as movies as opposed to music which seems to still be readily available. i did use imesh before but as was mentioned I found downloads took much longer to start and that s was just packed with spyware..never tried emule but willing to give anything new a try

pros:
- it's fast
- lots of hits

cons:
- most people don't share their files
- most songs are 'blocked' by the industry
- you never really get what you want

i use emule for things other than mp3s
pros:
- you're pretty much forced to share something....
- better for apps and harder to find files
- much better chance of getting what you want
- max download speed is limited by how much you're willing upload

cons:

- not so good for mp3s
- still needs more ppl to use it.....

Yes.
"Emule" is the new (old)Kazaa...it is now free of spyware and crap like that.....For now.
Wait till it gets Popular and spyware it is going to have....

You may want to check out Soulseek. Not sure what the user base is like, but I seem to find a lot of the hard to find stuff there when it comes to music.
