This bit of news sort of restores my faith in out justice system. Maybe Bill Blair and his gang of thugs with badges will start to serve and protect instead of intimidate and abuse
While it is important that there was a guilty verdict, the currently popular thinking—at least what passes for it in the seat of power in Ottawa—is that without a stiff sentence there is no justice.

Sentencing is yet to come. Thank goodness we have a strong Conservative majority government concerned that victims not suffer again when those who victimized them are handed mere token sentences. We can trust the government that enacted stiff mandatory minimums for a few pot plants to see this cowardly, weapon wielding thug is punished in due proportion to the unwarranted pain and suffering he inflicted, and with regard for the considerable expense his cowardly evasions of responsibility put the system to and for the discredit he brought on the service that still hasn't made a serious attempt to discipline him, those who helped him, or those who did as he did.

Gotta admit that last one is meant to be sarcastic and deeply skeptical.

He definitely won't be getting a stiff sentence, I'd bet my last cent on it...

While a conviction is likely warranted..it is just that. A CONVICTION.

On the other hand I have no time for the Adam Nobodies of the world. Constantly going around..contributing little to society..always looking for occasions to stir up shit. I am quite certain, in an ironic way, he welcomed the broken arm.

He will find himself, willingly, in the news again. COUNT ON IT.

Its kinda like the guy who walks down a dark alley..having been told gangsters will mug him.
Yes he has a right to be there. And gangsters are bad for mugging him. Gangsters will be convicted for mugging him.
But at the end of the day, he is still mugged, and he did it willingly.

I have ZERO TIME for the Adam Nobodies of the world! LOSERS OF SOCIETY.

Not much hue and cry about all the assholes that invaded our city, created absolute havoc and, for most part got off scot free. Not defending the cop, whose actions were clearly over the top, but I wonder why anyone would want their job.

The difference being that he was assaulted by the police, not by gangsters.

Unfortunately, the police did not move in while the troublemakers were destroying property and police vehicles. They stood back and let it happen, almost as if they were willing to show the public what the black bloc was capable of, rather than attempting to stop them.

They finally made a stand in an area that had been previously cleared for peaceful protests, and charged and assaulted anyone in the area.

Count the number of high-school educated cops on the sunshine list, add on the penson that comes earlier than most workers and factor in the authority and respect you get from most folks. Discount slightly for the anger-control stress (clearly some cops fail in that aspect) and a moderate danger factor—less than construction f'r instance—and you have your answer. Besides, even if you blatantly fuck up, you're suspended with full pay instead of fired or even disciplined, while the entire machinery of the legal system judges your conduct, because you and your fellow cops have made everyone else afraid to. Doesn't sound half-bad if you stop there.

The one aspect no one talks enough about is the damage to their souls that day in and day out dealing with the sad ignorance and outright cruel stupidity that the hopeless inflict on the helpless. Now ask yourself why there's more bullies than social-worker types on the force and why nothing ever seems to get better down where they work.

I never thought I would see the day Frank compares Toronto cops to gangsters. For once, in this case Frank, I agree with your comparison.
