Firefox problems

I installed the newest version of Mozilla Firefox (verson 3.5) yesterday & it keeps freezing & crashing on me. It won't let me access articles on any page & i can't even access the 'options' menu. Has anyone else experienced any problems with the newer version? It's been my browser of choice for the past couple of years & contains most of my favorite bookmarks, so i'd hate having to get rid of it permanently (someone told me to completely delete my old profile & settings, which might work).

Disable all your old extensions and plugins under "Add-ons" or be sure everything is up to date. Lots of people are having problems with old add-ons crashing Firefox.

It seems that xmarks can crash FF if you have a large number of bookmarks and passwords. On my Acer Aspire One SSD web book, the FF remix doesn't have an option to disable add-ons... so I'll have to re-install Firefox. It's a pain!

So far FF 3.5 with manual xmarks update works fine on my desktops, either within Windows XP or Ubuntu.

Two of my favourite addons don't work on the new version. For the time being I have updated my Netbook but will wait before I update my PC's or labtops.

Really, I read Chrome is still a 'work in progress' and not yet available for Linux.

Opera 10.10 is very fast....;)

Use Seamonkey.
I like and use Seamonkey with Linux on a Toshiba laptop......it works very well.
Seamonkey reminds me of Netscape from back in the day.

My IE is now clogged up with all sorts of junk and it is dreadfully slow.

In replying to the post on digital cameras I click on my Favourites for the NY tImes. WHen it took forever to load I opened up Seamonkey, typed in www.nytimes.com, browsed to the tech page, found the article and copied the URL. IE in the meantime was still trying to load the NYTIMES.COM page.

I would like to clean up IE to make it faster as sometimes IE is the only browser that works on certain sites.

Anyideas how to delete IE and install a simpler version? Current = IE 8.0.06

Windows won't let you delete IE. There is a way to go back to earlier IE versions but don't know how since I hardly ever use IE. I use Opera, FF and Seamonkey instead and can't recall not being able to get into any site that required IE only.
