I agree with this - to add to my frustration, and i felt this way during COVID - that there should have been two waiting rooms at the ER for vaxed vs unvaxed, and preferential rapid treatment only applied to vaxed patients. The unvaxed can frigging wait, seeing as how they didn't give a shit about anyone anyways.
Blissfully ignorant...

The mandated vaccines are those that are generally accepted by the medical experts, and with historical evidence, as being safe and effective against severe childhood and adult diseases, which are highly contagious.

The purpose of everybody hopefully being vaccinated at pre-school age is to prevent contagion in the close quarters of schools

Another purpose is to hopefully eradicate these diseases by creating "herd immunity". For example, measles and polio were thought to be eradicated, but due to laxity in people having their children vaccinated, those diseases have reappeared.

Nobody is mandated to take the pneumonia or the shingles vaccine, and many other vaccines such as those that are available for certain types of Hepatitis. That is their personal call and probably on the advice of their physician.

But when it comes to the generally mandated vaccines, I can't agree that recommendation should be left up to individual physicians with their own possibly misguided and/or misinformed theories and opinions.
isn't that what physicians are for? Not the gov't. Guess who makes a hefty $$$ when gov't mandates vaccines? Before COVID there were already vaccines in place since birth...I don't think people are prohibited for getting vaccinated...the law simply doesn't require a citizen to get one...

If there is an increase in measles cases it has nothing to do with so called anti-vaxxers. It has everything to do with bringing in millions of unvaccinated people from 3rd world nations.
This comment is one the stupidest I've seen in a long time.

It is not the fault of unvaccinated locals, but the fault of unvaccinated foreigners?

What the fuck do you think happens when unvaxxed people go overseas? And then come back to America carrying it?

And even if you are right, in arguably the #1 TOURISM state in the nation, why the fuck would want to INCREASE THE RISK from all those foreigners to your local population?

Seriously?

Actually in Florida they are making it very hard now for adults under the age of 65 to get Covid shots or boosters without a prescription from their physicians.

Before this new requirement all adult Floridians could just go to their local CVS or other pharmacy to get the boosters. No Rx required.

I don't want any kids to suffer, they really have no say in this and are under their parents control...
If their parents are that stupid, they're taking their genes out of circulation. Maybe this is nature's way of culling the herd.

Also, with a mandate it helps protect those individuals who cannot get vaccinated or have weaker immunities. The bottom line here is that people, probably young children, are going to die or be permanently harmed by this decision. The thing about the effectiveness of vaccines is that people under the age of 60 probably have no idea how serious these diseases are, and how sick someone gets. We think measles and just think of the rash. We don't expect anyone to die. Yet, here we are. Polio is even worse. Anyone remember former CityTV reporter and former Ontario Lieutenant Governor David Onley? He used a cane and a mobility scooter because he survived polio as a child, but it left him partially paralyzed.

This all stems from that discredited former doctor who falsified the results of a study that alleged the MMR vaccine caused autism. But he also was making millions selling supplements and other things. Basically, a con man lied about this shit and now a huge group of morons think vaccines are not safe. It is actually terrifying to me that this is still a thing. It would be one thing if the person who suffered was the one who decided not to get the shot, but unfortunately, it'll likely be their kids (or other kids).

I thought about that. But the reality here is that a child, who has no say in the matter, coudl have one of three things happen:
  1. Get deathly sick.
  2. Get a permanent injury/medical issue.
  3. Die

Now, they might be lucky and only get the first, but they could get the top two and have their lives permanently changed...And for that, I feel so sorry for them.

On another note, does anyone know there are still people on Iron Lungs in the US? Apparently some folks who survived the last great polio outbreak in the 1950s recovered a bit to live long lives, but as they got older they need to sleep in these breathing apparatuses. Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore, and the existing ones are OLD and breaking down...and you cannot get spare parts. So, they'll either suffocate or be forced to go on a ventilator for the rest of their lives. Polio is a fucking scare disease...
