This is ridiculous logic. Forcillo showed much more intent than a drunk driver ever would.
Drunk drivers are stupid and make stupid mistakes.
Cops are not stupid. Plus they are sober, which means they must be held to a much higher regard
Sorry guys but if you get drunk and drive it shouldn't erase your knowledge that it is a dangerous thing to do.
I'm not sure how to express this but it seems a number of responses point towards the cop being sober as a difference. Both made bad decisions that were lethal. Both reasonably knew the consequences of their actions.
IF he was drunk should the sentence be less, more or the same?
Also, I think it is a broad generalization to say cops are not stupid. Like any large collection of people you will get a bell curve of intelligence.
Six years which becomes 2 years. OR 4 years for four deaths which becomes less than 2 years in prison. Both seem light to me.
That is the real commonality I am trying to refer to (the light sentencing). I realize it is probably in line with what is normally given but to me it feels light.
