Just go to a cafe??
(Starbucks? Timothy's? Second Cup? Etc., etc.)
Wifi on every college & university campus, though you might need to borrow or steal a login.

You should also be able to find a couple of unsecured private wifi routers in every highrise.

The Country Style coffee chain is putting free wifi in most of its stores. However, terb is blocked on more than half of the ones I have tried.

Pretty handy because they are just about everywhere. The ones that have it have a big orange sign in the window and some have it even without the orange sign.

Canada, as usual, is lagging behind. In London, all coffee shops have wifi, the pret being my favourite. Even in the uS, most McDonalds have WiFi.

My 44 year old Italian friend who doesn't work uses the free computers in the Toronto Public Libraries. No, you cannot get TERB on those computers, I've tried.

All very good suggestions, but I have a feeling that the OP is looking for something that will give him free access in the comfort of his own home. In other words, he wants something for nothing.

If someone close-by leaves their wifi unsecured, hop on that. Where I am, someone left their's open and sometimes I'll use it briefly to test something.

Why stop at Internet and cable?
Many years ago, my friend got free cable by using a splitter on his neighbour's cable and running a cable from the splitter to his own house. Of course, I would never do such a thing and advise anybody to NOT do it either.

I think you can get free DIAL-UP internet access but you need a Bell landline phone to connect to the service:

Rogers Home phone will not work very well.
Holy shit!!! I can't believe that Toronto Freenet is still around. I remember using them for free dial up when I was in university in the mid 90's. I think you could only log in for an hour at a time, and it was a crap shoot as to whether you got a high speed connection (58.8 was it), or one of the crappy 14.4 lines.

They left me hanging quite a few times.... the porn pic slowly downloading, then always stalling before the best parts had shown up on the screen. LOL
