No tear gas, no rubber bullets, no water cannons, but people are clearing out volunteerly, trucks towed out, police made arrests what is mostly peaceful enforcement. The strategy is to outwait and tire out the remaining protestors by rotating officers taking breaks, great work by the Police.

Not Trudeau, obviously, but send someone from the health ministry or from border control and have a discussion about what the protestors wanted.
It wouldn't have changed much, since the protesters didn't appear to actually want to negotiate with the government, but I think it would have been fine to send someone to talk.

That's the point, we don't know what could have been resolved because there was no communication between both sides. I believe Trudeau deserves blame for that, he is the prime minister after all.. Maybe the police wouldn't have had to get involved, the blockades could have been avoided, or the trucks could have been moved earlier, who knows. When the leader of the country refuses to even speak with Canadian citizens, and resorts to name calling, that's a problem. Its juvenile and cowardly, he's supposed to unite the country, and instead he's doing the complete opposite.

Even that would have been acceptable, I agree. Doesn't have to be Trudeau himself but send someone like you mentioned, to hear their concerns. Ignoring them and telling the protesters to get lost only inflamed the situation.

The hard-core protesters aren't there for dropping vaccine mandates nor care about the truckers, they are there to destabilize the government. Unfortunately, they latched on the trucker movement and changed the narrative.

Trudeau resign or nothing and we won't leave until that happens. I don't even think the protesters or at least the leaders of the protesters are there to negotiate, it's all or nothing.

In a few weeks the mandates will end as COVID numbers dropped.

the absence of leadership is on the protest side. Their leaders are treasonous, racists with absolutely no connection to the trucking industry but using truckers as pawns to try to overthrow the federal government with their MOU….. and yet people expect our Prime Minister to meet with them?
The truckers should have thanked the organizers for their offer but organized a proper demonstration without their help. Maybe then they could have gotten a more sympathetic response from the very government the organizers intended to dismantle.

Dude, the protestors held a press conference where they - moronically - invited all the OTHER political parties to meet with them, but refused to meet with Trudeau. Even if he begged them, they would not have met with him.

Sorry. Not impressed. The protestors were being assholes and were refusing to move and the cops had to arrest them. The protestors struggled. You do that with any cops anywhere, you take a couple of shots to the gut. You don't want to get kneed or slugged, don't resist and be an asshole.

The old lady and the brownshirt guy and the horses, I've discussed to death with Simon in another thread. IMO both took dives and neither was hurt. The cops did not assault them at all.

You should have seen him when he was on the other side of the fence. He used to post how he was against anti-vaxxers and all for COVID messaures and then one day he flipped and switched sides. It is actually quite interesting going back in Kyle’s posting history. I have never seen suck a flip-flop on TERB before. Just fascinating behavioural changes from him.
