FUCK!!!! Computer Problems!!!

My computer just fucked me royally. I was having trouble with a particular drive (not my OS drive) so I powered down, unplugged and replugged all my drives to see if that would fix it.

Instead, upon reboot I get an "OS Error" message that I couldn't get past.

I tried plugging and unplugging other drives to no avail and have now had to reinstall Vista! Not that it's totally bad since I was due for a fresh install but not being prepared for it is a pain in the ass since I've probably lost stuff that was on my old desktop. Not to mention the time spent reinstalling.

And I still think I've got problems with my original drive.

A friend have similar problems last year, thought it was the drive. Turned out the MB was going and finally failed. It could be a host of problems....

I hate computers at times myself, caught a virus call Pallidium Pro, it just hijacked my computer, I had to have a guy come in to get it off my computer, still never worked as good as it use too.

I was thinking that too. Not an old mobo though.

I checked for viruses when I was troubleshooting the slow read time problem and I was clean so I don't think that's it.

As much as a pain as this is, the bigger concern is going to be getting my data off the failing drive. It`s already slow reading it so it`s going to be BRUTAL copying large amounts of data off.

plug both drive in and get a free ware hirens boot cd (Iso image)
boot off the CD
select windows XP mini
then you can copy data from one drve to another
then reinstall the OS
If your PC is down ask some one else to burn that iso file

Thanks but the issue isn't getting booted up at this point. I've reinstalled Vista on a different drive so I can see and access the data on the other drive. The problem is that the other drive appears to be failing (reads really slow) so it's going to take forever to get the data off it.

My suggestion, transfer in small chunks, not large ones.

Did you not backup your data to an external HD?

May be the OS detected a memory failure and trying to work around it
or one of the drive is failing
could be many things
