Montreal brought Parros in as an enforcer, 1 year,$937500. I game for the Canadiens and his career as an enforcer may be over. He is concussed and he may not be able to withstand another solid blow to the head.

That was a really nasty blow directly to the jaw which transfers energy through the temporomandibular joint to the base of the skull. It can produce a nasty concussion. Now many players wear specially designed mouth guards to lessen the chance of a concussion from an elbow or shoulder hit to the jaw, not just to protect their teeth. Mind you, I don't think one would have helped Parros last night.

Poor logic. Your assuming there will be a whistle at the 7 minute mark.. which is not the case. Instead of waiting say 5:45 you could be waiting 7:45.
I'm not assuming a whistle at the 7 minute mark. I'm not that stupid. My point is that there will very rarely be a whistle at the 5 minute mark so players would serve a portion of that two minute minor in virtually every case.

Yeah, but I don't believe for a minute that it was intentional. Happens often enough...just usually not with such a brutal result. Sometimes they get up and go at it some more if the linesmen don't get in there fast enough, and I believe that's all Orr was thinking---plus it happened so fast.
Ya I agree, there's no way I believe Orr pulled him down and inteneded the fate Parros received.

Is it true that Parros has an economics degree from Princeton? If true, he could go work on Wall Street and make $10 million a year (no concussions either).

The main purpose of the mouth guard for the last 20 years has been more about preventing concussions than to protect your teeth.

My point is Sir, Orr brought him down with him... Parros didn't "fall" and hit the ice face first as some want to claim.
But he did fall and his the ice face first, watch the video.

What was the cause of his fall, you may ask?

He was throwing a punch and at the same time as he threw it, Orr slipped, and happened to be holding on to Parros's sweater.

I would say with absolute certainty that Orr had zero intent of pulling Parros over, and forcing him face 1st into the ice.
It was an unfortunate result of the actions of the 2 players. These things happen.

Interesting, I did not know that Ivy League schools gave athletic scholarships.
For some strange reason I thought St. Lawrence University was Ivy League. Why isn't St. Lawrence University Ivy League:confused:?
[h=1]Athletic Scholarships[/h] St. Lawrence offers 32 intercollegiate athletic teams and more than 31% of our students compete on at least one team. All of these teams, except men's and women's ice hockey, compete in Division III of the NCAA. The NCAA strictly prohibits the awarding of athletic scholarships for Division III athletes; in fact, a student's athletic involvement and talent cannot be considered when awarding merit scholarships or need-based financial aid. The only athletic scholarships available at St. Lawrence are for men's and women's ice hockey.

Yes, we do not burn down our city, we would drown ourselves in...beer after a loss. Leafs fans, history shows they are a patient, classy bunch!

Division 1 schools do
Except the Ivy League - under its charter the Ivy League does not permit athletic scholarships in any sports such as basketball or hockey (at D1 level).

I am not certain if athletes get preference for academic scholarshops.
