Getting a 'regular job'

The time has come for me to retire from this business ( for real this time) I've got an interview today in the afternoon. And i'm just looking at my resume...i havent had a regualr job in over 2 years... How bad is it to um fib on your resume...i mean its just a waitressing job, but the last time i waitressed at a restaurant was a while ago, i've done shooters at a few strip clubs, but i'd rather not put that on there...help!
PS. can i use any of you as fake refernces j/k

Thats the great thing about waitressing. No shortage of jobs these days. Just tell them you were married and are returning to the workforce. Your experience is domestic etc etc...

Works for young women if they look good in the uniform.

Failing that come out of retirement

Thats awesome , most girls in the bizz are in the same situation looks like they havent worked because of this bizz during those time frames ....put anything on your resume to get you in the door then its up to them and you to keep the job or not .......most places for waitress jobs hire in person and even without a resume so i wouldnt worry about it if you show up in person its better imho

Been there, done that...

I worked as a driver and also as an dancer agency manager for 2.5 years before moving back to Toronto. When it came time for me to make a resume I really did not want to mention that. So what I did was instead of giving dates for my previous sales jobs I only put the amount of time I worked at various places. For exapmle before being a driver I worked in professional fundraising for three years. So on my resume instead of puting dates that were three years old I just listed the name of the place, what I did there and where you normally put the dates I just put three years. For me it was no problem as I was looking for sales work and lots of times they don't care about details they just want to know if you have experience and if you can do the job. You more or less sell yourself in the interview. I suspect in looking for a waitress job it is much the same.

I wouldn't recommend lying on a resume, ever. Creative writing is always good, though.

I don't know if saying i was married will work too well. i just turned 21...not quite at the age where i would of been married for the past 2 years. I got the interview through a friend who knows the owner of the place so maybe they'll give me a break. i've worked in restuarants/bars since i was 16, so experience isnt a problem, im just worried about the amount of time between the time i last had a job and now...however i was in school for one of those years... im just being paranoid. The only thing that really worries me is not having any recent references.

Don't worry... be happy.

I mean that. Just be (like someone already said) just go in and be happy. Tell them your experience. You don't have to give specific dates. And mention you went to school for awhile. That always sounds good. As far as too young to have a hubby... you can always say you stayed with your parents for a while.

You'll be fine. Just do it.

Back in the mid '90s I was making anywhere from 4 to 5 grand a month. A good 40 to 50% of that goes to expences though. Car payments, insurance, gas and radio fees etc.

Good Luck !!!! Hope you get it... Leaving the Biz is hard...getting paychecks for two weeks that match a good days pay last year isn't easy....My SO stopped Escorting about 9 months ago....Her resume had an eight year blank on it (she was an SP for last 3yrs). She played up the stay at home Mom part. She's waited tables pretty much for 6 months (tips have been crap) just to get used to working in the real world again (not easy !!) and just now landed a job that pays half decent... It's been a tough nine months but it's getting better.... I for one am glad she kept from going back to being an SP...

Maybe you could do both? See a few favorite clients in the spare time. It'll be some extra cash until the waitressing leads to something better.

On a personal note, I wish there were more restaurants with skimpy waitress outfits other than Hooters.

Hell cutomer service is customer service.

You may know more about people, because of your experience then most.

Remember you are there to please and the tips let you know where you are doing well.

Often I leave tips equalt to or larger then the bill pased on performance. ( resturants that is)

I could do both yes... but seriously, this business takes a real toll on me mentally and i know i'm meant for so much more...sorry guys. Right now, i have a crap load of cash saved so making a ton of money isnt a big deal right now. I just wanna work, write and take my courses and then go to school again.
Should I ever enter another sc it'll be as a patron not an employee
