You might also get refused entry at a border crossing if it goes to court, gets convicted for failing to pay .... The border crossing guards can check for criminal offenses if they are feeling snarly, and can turn you back, for up to 5 years. How deep they can check, I don't know - but for $150 it ain't worth it.

Well, in for a penny in for a pound. My cavalier attitude to non-home traffic ticket benefits from actual knowledge and experience. WH you're the 1st I've ever heard of. If you are comfortable I'd like to hear general details, actual offence is irrelevant. For example:

1. How did it get to court: did you send ticket in with 'not-guilty' checked? Did you respond to NY missive? A real memory test, did NY missive include any mention of reciprocity?
2. In NY court any comments re: Canadian licence?
3. Did you have any representation or consultation other then NY official?

Inquiring minds...

In the old days in NY they used to whisk you off to court and you paid your fine or went to jail. I was told reciprocity was in effect with Ontario and demerit points would be registered against my Ontario license, but it never happened.

U.S. Speeding tickets

I've had tickets in MA, IN and 2 in NY. I never paid. The second one in NY was only 1 year ago. You would think that they were computerized enough to detect my other tickets, but nothing.

But, they either don't care or one day I will spend a week somewhere eating dry bread and ravioli.
There are agreements between Ontario and NY and MA. Had outstanding speeding tickets and refused Ontario licence renewal as it showed up on computer. Damn their moving radar guns. Hides in the best spots and I wasn't driving my bat car. IN, OH, NJ, PE and IL with no agreements, unless it is recent. Did a lot of U.S. driving in the past.

NY traffic court dropped the speeding ticket as I rescheduled the trail dates few times and Trooper gave up going to court. Another time, also thrown out as they accept my guilty with explaination plead via mail. Some southern states will sent you collection notices to intimidate you but they can't do anything to you, as you are 'foreign national' unless you go there again, in which case hope it is 5 yrs for outstanding charges dropped from computer or else it may be jail time or see the nearest Judge to pay on the spot.
