I wouldn't buy my wife a gift card to Victoria's Secret, but I would buy a friend a gift card to a restaurant he likes, or to a store he likes. A buddy of mine loves Princess Auto. Am I going to take an entire inventory of his basement and garage and then go to the store and find something for him? Of course not. But a gift card would be appreciated since he can then go shop for something he has been wanting, or put it towards something he was going to get. And some things aren't practical to give as a gift, but are better as a gift card. Such as spa sessions for a favoured SP. Sure, some gift cards might be thoughtless, like giving a guy going to AA an LCBO card, but I think generally, people give gift cards with an idea that the recipient would appreciate or get use out of it.
Well I guess Visa, MasterCard and Amex have that covered now don't they, especially this year "buy what ever you want" I still don't know whats wrong with Cash. I mean it still works for escorts. Mind you I am thinking of the credit card thing Lol
This made me laugh! My gf got one from her hubby (among other cards) and made out like a bandit on boxing day with them. She loves it and prefers the cards in many ways.
Cash. Cards. It's all the same... Spendable, redeemable, and useful.
Personally I am content with cards (to pretty much anywhere) if I know in advance, but I adore cash which I put toward my "must have" items, paying down bills, or savings. Truthfully there are a couple gentlemen friends who've split it up. Cash and gift cards or even different denominations as it was easier for them to sneak it by the radar.
I would just find out during casual conversation( and have)."Hows the car working?"......"Hows she handle in the winter?"........."Do you have AMA?".Just normal, day to day conversation....no inventory required.
