Who would the Leaf's play if making 8th place?
Buffalo. The way the Sabres are firing on all cylinders, the Leafs will be lucky to win 2 games.
I've always been a Leafs fan, (I actually remember '67, even though I was 5 years old) but you have to be realistic.

Even if the Leafs don't make it, it was still worth knocking the Habs out. Where is Mr. Les Habitants now????*looks around* The Leafs finished ahead of you!!!!

I don't know about our "bragging rights". I stopped watching the game when they pulled raycroft. I mean, 4 unanswered goals? They just made it by the skin of their teeth.

As for Raycrap. He showed his true colours tonight: he can't play the big games which means he will fold like a cheap deckchair in the playoffs.

As someone said earlier, talk about soft goals, I mean jesus, he was playing like a junior B goalie up against wayne gretsky. I know I am being over dramatic but if I was Maurice, I wouldn't have just benched him, I would have sent him to the showers and told him NOT to be in the changeroom when the TEAM came in between periods. His performance was pathetic to say the least.......

Too bad for Leaf fans that the Devils are going to lie down for the Isles and dash all Leaf fan dreams. Talk about bursting a bubble!!!

Both teams sucked! That should have been a great playoff style game.It wasn't!
Hope the Islanders win as the Leafs don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

Lamouriello doesn't have to do anyone a favour, if he wants to rest Broduer there's nothing the Leafs can do.

It must be very discomforting for the Leafs and fans, that despite winning tonight's huge game against Montreal, some other team (Islanders) is controlling the Leafs' fate.

But it's their fault for not beating the Islanders Thursday night!

common with the rumours, guys! Brodeur is playing tommorrow... he's been off since Thursday and won't be playing again until Wednesday.

a healthy Marty Brodeur wouldn't stand for being sat for 6 days right before the most important time of year... really...

unless of course he's ailing. which, i guess we don't really know this time of year.

Hopefully we've seen the last of Raycroft whether we (Leafs) make the playoffs or not. How deflating it must be for the team when their busting their butts out there and Raycroft has one of his "moments". Imagine how much better this team could have been if they just had an average goaltender who would have provided some confidence. By getting pulled tonight, at least Raycroft didn't set that record for wins. That would have been a huge disgrace.

I know Brodeur will want to play just to sweeten his record.
What I dont get about Brodeur betting Parent's record for wins is how many games did they play in a season back in Parent's day.
The Flyers played 78 games back in 1973-74. Parent played in 73, winning 47 of them.

Interesting stats:

Raycroft: GAA: 2.99 Pct: .894

Belfour: GAA: 2.77 Pct: .902

And the Leafs are still paying Belfour's part of salary.

Wrong, Brodeur is on record as saying that he doesn't want to take a chance on injuring himself in this nonevent type game.

Let's face it, the best thing that could happen would be the Islander's winning. The Leafs can't compete against the Sabres with their curent goaltending duo. They also need a little more offence. They have come a long way this year, but the Brass are gonna have to put a great deal of thought into making the Leafs a serious Stanley Cup contender.

As much as I think NYI are more deserving to make the playoffs I actually think the Leafs would do better against the Sabres based on a couple of their performances against them this season. The rivalry thing could be a bit of an equalizer. Not that I think it would be enough for them to upset but it might be closer than everyone thinks.

Having said that, go Isles.

What happens if the Islanders tie tomorrow, their last game?????
And the Leafs win tonight, do the Leafs still go through???
If the Islanders/Devils are tied after regulation time and then the Islanders go on to lose the game in OT, both the Islanders and the Leafs will have 90 points. The Leafs would get the tie-breaker as they would have won more total games than the Islanders.
