Just came back from the Cineplex Colossus, Jersey Mike is set to open on the Labour Day weekend.

Just watched the Superman film, I loved it.

Zac Snyder would have been better of as a cinematographer, as a writer/director he sucks. Poor Henry Cavill had to play Superman as a sullen psychopath, but he wasn't given much to work with. Had Snyder possessed any writing talent, Superman and Homelander would be the same. He cast on image not talent, his DCEU was dull and grim.

This is my first James Gunn film, I enjoyed Peacemaker, Superman was a celebration of everything the Snyderverse wasn't. David Corenswet has huge acting chops, never a dull moment when he was on screen. Rachel Brosnahan was a radiant Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult played a psychotic Jeff Bezos, he was so over the top he was hysterical. The dark horse of the film was Anthony Carrigan (Barry - NoHo) as Metamorpho who ran the gambit from sad to exhilarated. A fun ride all the way through. One small spoiler, co-producer Will Reeve does have a cameo in the film.

James Gunn has already finished shooting the Supergirl girl. I have no desire to watch House of the Dragon, started it and fell asleep, Milly Alcock (Supergirl) is in it.

The three leads were all great. When you see more you will see it was a very James Gunn sort of film.
Compared to Man of Steel, Superman is a breath of fresh air. Gunn is being faithful to the comics which I read avidly as a fresh off the boat immigrant. I've seen four Zac Snyder films, Watchmen was the best 300 was homoerotic Zionist propaganda. He threw Henry Cavill under a bus, hopefully he'll have a Hugh Jackman moment (Prisoners) and rejuvenate his career.

The cast fed off the energy of the lead three. Kenyan actor Edi Gathegi is creating buzz with his portrayal of Mr. Terrific.

Hopefully The King of Kings wont deport him.

Vanessa Kirby is obscenely gorgeous, Pedro Pascal letting his Lothario out. I'll probably stream Fantastic Four, the next film I'll watch is the theater is Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein. By then Jersey Mike's will be open.

I thought Mr Terrific was great. (The whole "Justice Gang" was, but he was the standout.)

I might see F4 in the theatre, will see what word of mouth is from people I know.

I am looking forward to Frankenstein quite a bit.

Daniel Day Lewis is still with us. If he didn't retire from acting he may not be. Isabelle Adjani delivered the best performance by an actress ever...she nearly drank her own milkshake.

Julia Garner is on a roll, she turned hate into love as The Silver Surfer in Fantastic 4: First Steps. Now she's adding another film to her amazing resume, Weapons. A psychological thriller co-starring Josh Brolin and Benedict Wong.

The Big Picture was uploaded to archive(dot)org on Saturday. It's a 1989 comedy directed by Christopher Guest, (his feature film directorial debut, but he isn't in this one). I had never heard of this movie before.

from wikipedia:

Greenlit by David Puttnam, president of Columbia Pictures, who was ousted two weeks after production began. According to Guest, the subsequent regime at the studio was unable to figure out what could be done with the film, as many executives at the studio didn't like the film because they felt like they were being brutally satirized in it. Columbia quietly gave The Big Picture a limited theatrical release (despite opening to positive reviews) before sending it to video.

I started watching this movie this morning. I'm about 15 minutes in. Martin Short has an uncredited role as a Hollywood agent, and he has me in stitches already. I'll finish this one after lunch.

Click here to watch The Big Picture online.

Right-click the link -> 'save link as...' to download - 679 MB .mp4; it appears to be a DVD rip.
