Any suggestions? I'm bringing a friend to try out different restaurants around town :)
For $20 per person, I would recommend House of Gourmet in Chinatown. Good food that is inexpensive, great atmosphere. The place is never empty. Also, on the cheap side, you can never go wrong at Burgers Priest.

It obviously depends on if you'll be ordering wine, appetizers, etc. I don't know what part of town or what type of food you're looking for but I find the Greek restaurants on the Danforth to be reasonable.

Chinatown is also great if you're on a budget.

With or without alcohol?
Before or including tax and 15% tip?

50 a head, if there is no booze may be possible.

Try Origin on King and Jarvis, it's tapas style. You'll order maybe 3 dishes to share and desert and that would be about it.

You can also try Fat Pasha, which is outstanding. I mean, REALLY outstanding. No booze, 2 people $100.00 is doable. (Tip would be on top.)

Chinese restaurants can be really good, but you can botch the dinner experience if you do not know what to order.

Won Ton Soup
Spring rolls
Shrimp with lobster sauce
Cantonese chow mien and / or Beef with rice noodles

Sorry CC. That is an extremely mundane and old time dinner.

Need some spice, some sweetness some veggies.

Szechuan shredded beef

Shrimp ginger/chili

Spicy green beans with minced chicken.

Hi Spacealien2, you should include Ossington Ave. on your restaurant itinerary! It's a hot restaurant strip with a lot of variety and character off Queen St. West. A few new places just opened that I haven't listed here (including a new mac'n cheese place) but I've been to these recently and recommend for casual fine fare:

Incredible pizza, warm and lively atmospherre

GREAT local beers, amazing beer posters, great ambience, and a small but rich menu:

A twist on Malaysian street fare, incredible. Hope you can avoid the creative cocktails, because they will take you over your limit $$:

Haven't been to these yet, but I think I will try them soon:

Enjoy wherever you end up :)

Which area and what type of food? That budget is very doable in almost every area and cuisine.
