Umm I dunno Paige but can I see you or one of you're lovely girls and pay you a week later.at my convience..sorry shit happens.

I don't think so.

The man did the work pay him even if you have to go out of you're way to do it. Pretty simple solution.

You know Fists, if she said ill pay you in 30 days, that would have been fine with me,, it was the everyday promise that irked me and wasted my time.. i really diont care iif it takes 60 days for payment , the site is on my server and I ahve control of it so no problem... but this issue here is that she really doesnt need the site anymore , it was an experiment that didnt work. thats why im not getting paid, but thanks for all the support I have 2 people interested in the site. no worrys

I was also ripped off, His story changed and changed so much my head was spinning. I was furious, upset and most of all pissed off at myself for putting my trust into someone I thought was a friend. This individual does read this board
Bonnie if what you say is true than why don't you tell us his name? Why are you covering him up?

Ms. Taylor,

Had no idea the site was intended for you, but now that you've blown the lid off it, somehow I am not surprised. Aren't you the same person who is offering to "store" client information for SP's??

Can't say that Gilbey's post makes it that easy to follow, however his version of the events somehow rings truer than yours.

His point about payment for services and his analogy is apt. If he wanted your services, he sure as hell wouldn't get it without payment up front.

As far as his decision to air the dirty laundry in public, that is his choice - if the mods had a real problem with this, they would have shut this thread down hours ago.

Alien , I am not covering up for him, I just think he is a low life, feel free to PM me as he does read this board and is or was a member of the other board..
as for what he was to get me is that he was to get me 7 hockey tickets to the leaf/sabre game on march 6th.. i asked him in january to get them for me and he said he could..I took his word for it and I had my money in hand to pay for it, but i should of just did it on my own...and all this would not of happened..but like i said the kids had a good time in the end....

Interesting thread.. lets see if we can really make sense of this mess.

A client requested a service from a "somewhat" legit webdesigner, who only works for cash. Said webdesigner, creates website, and then requests payment. The sipulation of terms for payment were vague at best in the beginning.

In my world, and I do mix business with pleasure, the standard terms for "cash" payment is 30 days. C.O.D. is just that "Cash on Delivery". The extention of any terms is alway a cash basis not C.O.D., if I have any inkling that there will be a problem collecting I always ask for a deposit. Usually enough to cover the out of pocket.

I also know that if I contracted to do a design job, then I am honour bound to deliver said goods to said client. I do not have the right to sell their conception and idea on the open market.

Haven't you guys ever heard of the practice of fair business practices.

So what have we learned, a business deal gone bad has resulted in a lot of finger pointing, a breach of confidence, a illegal act and a really long thread.

If this were judge judy's court, the fees would go to the defendent (webdesigner), and the client would have the right to sue for wronged action.

Kiss and make up you two.. you both have something the other wants.. work it out.. as any good business people would..

Between a rock and a hard place
No that's about what you get for $300 these days. Of course so many other developers are being low balled into oblivion and doing $1500 equivalent sites for $100 or $200. But Gilbeys site is about what you would expect to get at fair market for $300. But it seems Ms. Taylor is an expert at negotiating/rationalizing indefinite payment terms so she did get a bargain after all.

Ok i agree with the facts that terms were never set. But if you make an agreement to pay then pay when you say you will.
Get smart with your business if you wish to grow and get bigger. 40% of my business is based on referral. 30% on repeat business for one reason or another the other 30% is retainers and misc.
I never settle or slash my prices nor have I since the tech meltdown. I take 50% up front and invoice every two weeks during the project. I log and comment all updates and work done during that period for my clients to let them see what they are getting. I also do my best to stick with time frame commitments. Why do i do all the extra clerical work and logging work.
A) It is professional.
B) it is my reputation and my livelihood.
C) creditability
I make no excuses and generally call the client if there is any problems before it becomes a problem just to let them know.
or as my Dad said," Shit or get off the pot."
So how does someone dyslexic that can't use a spell checker write proper syntax in your code?
Not only is God in the details he knows the truth here.

Gosh man I miss those days when Angelfire.com websites were free with no traffic limits and easy cool building tools.

These shitfaces at Rogers better start telling me where the hell is my free website, supposedly I have a 10-gigabyte webspace freespace with their account.
