I almost forgot about St. Elsewhere -- they indeed had a great opening theme as well. BTW, I almost forgot that David Morse had a lead role on that show (of course, I knew that careers of both Denzel Washington and Howie Mandel were given a big boost from St. Elsewhere).

So many great ones to choose from! They really knew how to write them back in the early days of television. Nowadays you're lucky to get 15 seconds of music. It's a real challenge to name a decent TV theme from any show made since the late-90's ("The Simpons" would definitely be one, though).
