In better times they were on an episode of Will and Grace. They were hilarious in it. Definitely worth watching.

IMHO, Darryl Hall was the star and Oates was just a backup. He was a good musician but John was the big star and I believe he wrote most of their songs although many were co-written.

No doubt Darryl was the lead vocalist and was also the primary songwriter. I consider him to be one of the most underrated vocalists ever. Nonetheless, Oates was talented he had a good voice did well with backup vocals and co-wrote a lot of their songs.
If they were splitting 50/50 I think Darryl would be getting a raw deal. But I don't know what the beef is about.

I responded and he invited me to chat on some form of social media, (can't remember which one) some time. True. I never responded because I really didn't have anything else to add.
